I can confirm that I just signed up this afternoon, got an additional month by trying to cancel. I was also able to watch a movie that was marked "Showtime" and I wasn't able to do that on my account from last year's deal. There don't seem to be any commercials on what you get from this deal.

So 13 months commercial free, for $1.77 a month.

A couple of weeks ago they changed Paramount + non ad to include Showtime, so it is likely that your old account, if it made it past June 27 or so, also had access to Showtime and you didn't notice.

The wording on this deal is that it is only Paramount+ Essential and only for 30 days but obviously that isn't the way it's implemented right now.

I think 2-3 times a year? Not sure as I don't pay as much attention when I'm not in need of a subscription. You can search for Sportsline in SD and get a better idea of how often it comes up. It's worth setting up an alert for it, then jumping as soon as you see it before the code has a chance to go bye-bye.

Another way I found to verify the +Showtime subscription is simply to open the mobile app on my iPhone. When I go to account information and look at subscription it clearly says "Current Plan: Paramount+ with Showtime* monthly".
