Just a tip, register the same finger 2-3 times, seems to help the finger print reader become way more reliable (have this phone for one of my kids, I'd estimate doing this increased it a 90% success rate to unlock the first attempt after registering her thumb 3 times versus maybe 60-70% before that).

Run away from this phone. It has so many problems compared to the previous.
My screen is unresponsive sometimes, have to reset the phone, no cell signal or very week sometimes, randomly dialed for no reason, incoming calls fail to reach (go directly to voicemail). I'm waiting to trade in for anything else with this phone.

Fingerprint reader is worse, but overall the phone, especially the camera, is better.

Isnt the Metro deal better for this device if one can wait for 6 months for unlocking?

If you don't mind waiting, Yes.

I traded in my 3A because it was end-of-life for updates.
I got this. I wish I had my 3A back.
Fingerprint reader is just plain bad.
Don't like the way apps respond. Just me...

Is it too bad? is this phone usable until I can find another daily driver?

I would either pay the premium for a 7a (which is a MUCH better phone than the 6a) or buy a samsung used/refurb in this price range personally. Hard to go wrong with an S20-21 for like 150-200 unlocked.

Removing the hardware fingerprint reader was a terrible choice, but it's probably never coming back. Hopefully they do power button fingerprint or something in the future. Their homegrown CPU/GPU does cause some issues as well. Pixel is definitely sliding into the "I have an idea, let's make the phone out of heavy, fragile glass and that's all that matters" camp.

I'd rather have a $150 6a than a $499 7a. Tensor 2 did not correct many issues.

Where can I find one of those Samsung refurbs unlocked at that price?

Everyone's mile varies. I got this phone for a family member late last year at $240 and they love it. No issues at all. For $150 is even better. First day updates is a big win for me. Got two. One for momma and one for me as my 4th phone. Yes, 4th phone. 1 iphone, 1 z flip 4, 1 OG pixel xl for unlimited Google photos storage, and now this one

4a and 3a still get good life with lean updates.
I'm only upgrading if its 256gb or free
