Browsing thru my offers I came across this one here. I do not see any mention of a minimum purchase required OR I just do not see it.

Staples $50 back as statement credit.
To earn credit, click the button above and complete your purchase in the browser that opens. Purchases made through a merchant's app will not qualify for the rebate.

Deal looks dead. I took screenshots so hopefully everything goes right. Under shopping trips it doesn't show as me having made a purchase, but I encounter that problem frequently with CapOne shopping rewards and routinely call when I'm missing rewards (browser/device doesn't matter). I only use their rewards systems when there's a payoff that makes calling them worth it.
May we have an update on your situation? Thanks in advance.

Never received any updates. Usually they make you wait the three billing cycles so I will call then. I have never had any issues when calling to receive my unresolved cash back, but it is definitely an annoyance.

Did the transaction clear on the credit card or show pending when you got the email? Mine still says pending and no email yet.

Update. I ended returning the item I bought. The charge still had not reappeared after disappearing and almost the end of the return period. Never received an email of either the 2% or the $50. Sucks, cause I really hoping it was gonna come through.

I just sent everything back today, at least for me it's not worth waiting 3 months to see if I get $50 back

Still shows pending for me. When I get my next bill with the $50+ Staples charge on it, and pay it, then I will call again.

I experienced a similar issue, with an order from Buffalo Wings, a few months ago.

They initially removed the original charge from my account and subsequently added it a day later thereby invalidating the rewards associated with the original charge.

Unsurprisingly, the original charge from Staples was removed after delivery today and I am relatively confident it will be disqualified from receiving the incentive.

I have no intention of letting these crooks deceive me again.
I wanted to provide an interesting update.

Although the "Shopping Trips" section of my Capital One portal contains a pending transaction from Staples on July 6, 2023, the actual charge, which was removed after delivery on July 10, 2023, has not been reapplied to my account yet.

My statement for July 2023 was established yesterday.

I am hoping that Capital One has decided to simply void the transaction in order to avoid having to disburse $50, but I doubt that will manifest.

Anyone else undergo a similar experience of a charge being retracted for a period of 12 calendar days?

I'm in a similar situation.

Purchased $51 ($56 including tax) of office supplies on July 6th. Charge was showing as pending on my account. Received the delivery on July 10th. At this point, the pending amount completely dropped off my account. I thought it would post the following day but it now has been 12 calendar days without it even showing up.

On the cashback portal, it shows my status as "Created", not even "Pending" as if the purchase never happened. In my case, I purchased office supplies knowing I wouldn't have a time limit on returning them if needed.

I guess my strategy is wait till the following week and see if it eventually posts. If it does, I'm gonna fight to get the $50 credit, I have screenshots and even screen recorded the entire process.

I've also been looking up the legality of merchants delaying the charge on your credit card after an extended period of time. There exists what's known as a "Late Presentment Chargeback" meaning that card issuers such as Visa and MC require the merchant to finalize the credit card charge in a timely manner, otherwise a chargeback can be executed by the consumer. The time limit may vary depending on the bank and the card so I'm researching into it further, however I've read numerous cases of people successfully disputing charges that were posted on their accounts months beyond the original transaction date.

I appreciate your input.

I also recognized the opportunity to argue a lack of recognition of the application of the transaction, with the Staples, weeks after the actual transaction date, but I lack confidence in the success of the argument considering the application of the same amount as the original transaction with a delay.

I don't intend to waste time in attempting to persuade Capital One to honor the terms of its promotion to stimulate spending at Staples.

If a company is unwilling to honor the terms of an agreed incentive, regardless of whether it was erroneous or not, then my confidence in the company's business ethics and reliability in resolving issues diminishes to a point at which I discontinue the business relationship.

Consequently, Capital One's failure to honor the promotion will most probably result in the physical destruction of the card and discontinued use of the card until the card expires.

Its waste of time calling. You basically call CapOne Creidt card number and ask them to transfer to the Offers/Shopping Dept. They transfer you, and last week they acknowledge theer was problem with the Staples $50 offer and every one will get that who made the purchase from their Offer link, and I was asked to wait. Mine shows up as created only. Then yesterday, they refused to agree that they ever had that offer. As per this rep, it was only 3%. Then asked for a supervisopr, and she would also not see that they had $50 offer. On insisting, she said she will check some other system and call back in 1 hr. Missed their call as their number pops up as spam. Anyway, called back, and couldnt speak to the same Supervisor, and the new supervisor would not know either. I was told they will call again, but still no one called. Seems like I will be returning my order. Its waste of time dealing with customer services now a days as it has gone down drastically every where. Home depot, Amazon or youe Home Warranty - no one now cares much and all are finding ways to deny even basic service.

I wrote to the Capital One's president's office a week ago, and got a phone call from someone on the executive team. She was going to look into the issue and said she hoped to have it resolved by the coming week. I had screenshots of every step of my purchase using the C1 link, but did not attach them to my email. I indicated if requested, I would provide them.

(My purchase was on July 7 and the goods arrived from Staples on the 10th. Like so many, the temporary charge disappeared from my online statement and then reappeared on around the 11th or 12th, showing a purchase date of July 11th -- a day after I had already received the full order. My transaction shows as pending in the shopping log, but I never got a confirmation email that my ordered qualified for the $50 back. I really want to know if it was C1 or Staples that has manipulated the process here.

As long as your status shows "pending", then you're in the clear. Even if the credit doesn't post in the 3 months, you can call them up and a regular customer service rep can submit the credit for you. I've been there and done that.
Its only if your status shows as "created" that I would be concerned. However since you have screenshots of the offer and the purchase; you should still be OK since Capital One has credited amounts just based on that alone even if the status says created. Also been there and done that.
I never get confirmation emails from Capital One offers because I have unsubscribed from all their emails. I use the pending status in the log as my confirmation. If you want to receive those emails, check your notification settings.
