standing freezer is nice because it's easier to find stuff in it, you're not bending down into the freezer, digging through 'whatever that was', etc.

despite that, I still prefer a chest freezer because all the cold air in the freezer doesn't spill out as soon as you open the door, and it therefore makes it a little better when you lose power and need to toss some stuff from the refrigerator into the freezer to keep it good for a little bit longer...

Cooler air sinks. I don't think there needs to be a study on this.

I used to have the 7cu Insignia chest freezer and bought 9 of these crates (3 sets of 3) [amazon.com] to organize food. Then I got a magnetic dry erase sheet to put on top of the freezer to write down what was in each crate. Food in the top crates did get more attention than the bottom ones, but it was still a pretty good system and helped make sure I didn't get a pile of vacuum-sealed meat sitting at the bottom for years.

These also come with a basket for the top of the right side, which isn't as deep as the other 3/4, so there's a little disorganization between the basket and the bottom of the freezer there.

This was for a family of four big on freezing blocks of leftovers and tons of Trader Joe's supplies.

Depending how your garage setup, but since I switched to standing freezer, my garage has more space and looks nicer with the rest of cabinets.

Manual defrost, manual dial thermostat, garage ready (it's not afraid of temps outside of 72F), no WiFi or HDMI. These are good freezers.

There's no proof that standing freezer will spill out more cold air than chest freezer. I know for the fact that you will spend more time digging the chest and letting out cold air by removing frozen food from the top to bottom. (I used to own one). Regardless, both will freeze your foods once you close the door.

Idk about you, but our main purpose of having freezer in garage is for overflow foods or meat. We open it about once a week, mostly before we go out shopping to Costco. Most of our frozen foods/deserts are in kitchens freezer, which we open at least 100x a day hoping that some ice creams magically appeared inside.

If you check out, there is an option with Shipping and Installation for $24.99. Yet Shipping by itself is $99 (must be a Medium drink marketing strategy XD). The choice is obvious if you don't have a vehicle that could fit these freezers.

I bought the Walmart one. It came damaged and they would only refund and not replace.

Bought this earlier this year at 180 then sold it on market place for same price and switch to standing freezer for $280 which is so much better tbh coz you don't have to find your stuff as everything is stacked up right in-front of your eyes.
Very good brand tho.
Got a link or model number for the upright freezer?
