This price seems lackluster and the normal sale price

$173.24 today, no coupon required. I combined with the discover cashback slickdeal (my targeted discount was $10 off with $75 paid) to $163.24

I have a 1700x too which don't support win11. I'm tempted to get it since mine is 4 years old. But I have an old gpu too rx570!
The lack of Microsoft "approval" was not based on the AMD functionality. People have apparently been running it for years.

It has two more physical cores, but gaming performance is pretty similar. That being said, a motherboard for a 5700x is like 80 bucks for a pretty nice one.

Thanks. Was looking at gaming performance. Seems like not worth the upgrade.

Are you building from scratch for a low budget rig? I'd go with a Ryzen 5 5500 or 5600 non-X. Look for B550 or A520 boards w/bios flashback but most likely at this age of the platform, most boards should post with updated bios.

Yes building from scratch. What is the difference between Ryzen 5 5600 and Ryzen 5 5600x? My kid currently plays Minecraft and Fortnite on a computer with i5-10400 with integrated graphics card with 12GB ram and a 256GB M.2 HD connected to a 10 year old TV and complains of the game freezing/crashing every now and then.

I recently started procuring parts to build few computers for work with following config and I am trying to see if this will work for his gaming computer or if I should upgrade few parts and may be get a GPU to make it better for him.
1) Ryzen 5 5600G
2) MSI B450M PRO-VDH MAX Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard
3) TEAMGROUP T-Force Vulcan Z 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory
4) Samsung 980 Pro 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive
5) Cooler Master MasterBox Q300L MicroATX Mini Tower Case
6) Apevia Prestige 600 W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply

Appreciate your feedback.

The difference between the X and non X is the X is higher binned but the performance out of the box is probayless than 5%. Get the one that is cheaper and both are unlocked chips so just turn on PBO or manually overclock with a supported chispet(B550/X570) if that's your thing.

The 10400 is equivalent to a Ryzen 5 3600 so it's still good at gaming. See if you can add a dedicated graphics card if the PSU/case is compatible. Might be able to fit a RX 6400 that doesn't require a pcie power connector. If you have room and 400-500w then look for a used RX 580 8gb around $60-$80 or gtx 1070/1070ti at $100-$120.

That's a decent build. If you're looking for a cheap gaming rig to play Minecraft, see if vipoutlets have any deals on a refurbished 5600g with a RX 6400 or RX 5500. They usually go for about $270-$360.

I currently have a 3600x with RTX2060 and 32gb ram. Generally play old games (Cs go, Skyrim, etc) and run adobe suite and some coding programs. What would you recommend as a good bang-for-buck processor? I'm looking at 5700x, 5900x, but I'm open to suggestions.

I have the 3600x too and I just bought the 5700x. From what I've researched, you would get better performance overall. Gaming may not be that big of a jump, but should see improvement in productivity apps. It is also more efficient than the 3600x
