This is Energy Star rated, so check your utility company's website for rebates. Mine offers $50.

In bucketless mode, these take up half the space compared to the regular style. Plus the air intake on these covers 3 sides of the unit instead of just one. The only downside to this style is that if you use it with the bucket without the pump, it's a hassle to empty the bucket because you have to lift the whole unit to reach the bucket.

I think Midea is one of those "think differently" kind of companies. They came up with a U shaped window AC unit which is all the rage. Had a write up a month or so ago in the Wall Street Journal.

I've got one and use it during summer months. It pulls about 5 gallons of water out per day with most using for my plants…2 years and still going.

I recently purchased the 50 pint model. I'm impressed. It works great and it's fairly quiet The pump option works well. The only negative I can come up with is the onboard humidity reading is about 8% high. Time will tell on durability.

I'm very sensitive to appliances that make noise. Is this one quiet when it runs?
I have the larger white one in the garage. It is loud. Definitely would not want it in my living space, it it works great as a dehumidifier.

If you want to cool the garage you want a portable AC unit. If want to remove moisture probably want a higher pint dehumidifier since the garage is probably more humid. My house in Houston is normally 74 DB 65-70% RH in the Summer heat and with this it can get to about 74 DB 55-60% RH when I have it set to 50 or 55% RH. Can't remember which setting I used. It is kind of loud for indoors on high fan speed. If I used Low fan speed the unit would be on for a LONG time
was it running along with a/c?

These are pretty unpopular because they're 300-500 watts, and all that heat is dumped into the room.

You might as well run an air conditioner that does the same thing.
Mine is in a basement with no windows and it's cold enough down there.

no. a/c unit even for the central one will not extract more humid out of your inhouse air ike these. either you need both running or this unit to reach the humitity you want.

for a typical 65 to 70% humidity. running a/c all day long only get you down to 58-60% max.

It is quieter than my last humidifier (Danby) but I still would not consider this quiet. I've yet to find a dehumidifier that is. But it's in my basement where I don't mind much.

So using continously mode this need to be run bucketless and connect the hose to a drain? I want to made sure I am not going to wet the wood floor. I can swap the basement unit and drain this to the sump pump. Thanks!

air directions are illustrated by the manufacturer as you can see. it sucks air from above. 1 side. top only. not sure how you come up with 3 sides when its sitting.on top of a bucket. there are some reasons the air purifiers or portable a/c units all sucking air from the side instead of top.

I have an assumption, purely that as no evidence, that they are phasing out the gray version and going to rebrand it as a higher version than white as they introduce an inverter dehumidifier. This will help on the cost to run and the noise, unless it runs all the time obviously but would be better suited in non basement areas.

Checkout Midea U shaped window units. I just installed some and they are keeping the house as cool as our central air for less power, as we control where we want it cooler at any given time. Not even as loud as these dehumidifier units. They are working on making units that are able to heat when above 40 as well in window unit form.

Also, after installing these U shaped units we no longer need the dehumidifier on that floor anymore either as the fan is able to run at a low speed.

Got one with the $5 Amazon credit from gift card refill. Already have a dehumidifier in the basement, but the Wi-Fi feature will make it more convenient to turn the unit off from a distance. Thanks OP.
