Roku has too much support for everything for me to jump over to Onn. I have had Roku's for 10+ years and they still work well, even the original one I bought. Roku's reliability has been top notch and have earned my loyalty over minor savings. Shoot, I would buy non-smart TV's as I use Roku's and a Shield for my home theater.

At a similar price point, with TV controls and 4K, it seems the Onn. device with Google TV is a better option. I purchased it recently and am very happy with it.

100% agree, there is zero reason to get one of these vs the Onn device. The Onn beats it in every way possible.

It's not about savings, Google TV is just a much better service than Roku OS. Thousands of apps, faster UI, support for a lot more services.

For $8 more, you get 4k and better remote.

Roku Express 4K+

https://www.amazon.com/Roku-Expre...B0916TKFF2

Edit:
The 4k+ also has twice the RAM (1GB). Faster loading apps.

Unless your TV cannot display 4K . . .

For those who have not yet seen it the deal on the Express 4K is here:

What are you talking about? The Onn device has zero to do with Apple.

They're talking about Alphabet, the head company that was formed after Google was restructured.

but hold on —that is a Google device — I am suspicious of spying by Google and Amazon devices . Roku has its issues for sure but I have never heard of privacy invasion as one of them

I just bought the $27 version because it has the volume control . When I'm on a running machine in the winter watching Roku I don't want to have 2 controllers. So that's worth an extra $8 to me.

Roku absolutely does tracking and data selling as well. Don't get me wrong, I use roku's but Roku telemetry hits are the number 1 thing blocked on my pihole.

Will this device work for the free 6 months of Doordash that Roku offers? If so, tempting just for that...

What benefits does one have with Onn vs Roku? I have an old roku which is aging and need to find a replacement.

My only issue with roku was I could not find support for ipvt apps... does onn do a better job?

I do not have a 4k tv.. so native 4k support if absent is OK for now.

Any suggestions? Thank you
