I made a similar build on pcpartsbuilder and it costs $1,306, which is $56 more than this pc: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kghqLs
This is a great deal for those who need a higher end pc and live near a MicroCenter.
Congratulations 👏 You lost about 25%+ fps. Good for you for wanting less performance.
The card itself uses 335W. For this system the total power draw is probably around 550-600W. So 750W is plenty.

The recommendations for PSU ratings are for the total system power needs. The card makers will recommend a high value to cover any possible system configuration such as high power CPU and lots of memory etc. They do that with lots of margin to make sure its safe for people who don't know their power usage and blindly throw a high power card into a system with other high power devices (CPU, memory etc).
As long as the total system requirements are less than the PSU rating (with margin) then you're fine.

I bought a 27" 4k monitor. Can this pc run 4k games smoothly?
No? I say that as an owner of multiple 6950s. For 4k you need dlss/fsr for a reasonable framerate. So you would never get 4k native for any modern game.
Even the 4090 needs dlss for games at 4k.

Good deal on paper but how is it going to run 6950xt with 750W PSU when AMD recommends minimum 850W... https://www.amd.com/en/products/g...rx-6950-xt

Surprised at all the downvotes regarding a question seeking some clarification.

I just ordered a 6950xt. Also ordered a 1000w psu. I'd rather have more than I need and run at 50-60% load after the initial power on. Less load often means less heat. Plus, I tried a "minimum recommended" once and it would crowbar more often than not.

I have a 6950xt reference card and an 1100w PSU and I will honestly say that I have had it crash a few times on me but only on specific games mainly ones that use DX12. It is kind of annoying really.

There's also the Windows OS which is $150-$200 bucks on top of that unless you go gray market.

Incorrect, if you know where to go (no "grey market"), a Win 10 (upgradable to Win 11) will run you between $17 to $20.

You forget about the spike nature of the power consumption of the modern graphics cards. It can be rated as "335W" but that does not reflect transient spikes under load, such as gaming. Here is the actual power chart: https://www.techpowerup.com/revie...gn/35.html which shows that it spikes up to 450W. The article recommends minimum 1000W PSU. GN did a deep dive into this topic about a year ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnRyyCsuHFQ

Not if you want to play the latest games with Ray Tracing. Cyberpunk and it's expansion look great with path tracing. Portal remake looks phenomenal. And almost all upcoming Unreal Engine 5 games while use some form of Ray Tracing for lumin. So if you're buying a system at all for the future, this is something you have to consider.

Why would anyone want to buy Nvidia now that it's apparent they don't care to extend the life of their previous generation? They constantly gatekeep software improvements for their latest devices, and their previous gen is left to rot and age like all hell.

Now they're actually making cards slower while making them more expensive. People aren't dumb..they don't want slower cards with better software for ray tracing..ray tracing isn't even worth it.

Might be something you'd want to get via PM. Sharing it publicly might be grounded for a warning from SD and/or the place getting found-out and shut down.

Yeah, RT is nice in games where it doesn't gimp performance too much but it really seems to be a gimmick for now.

I am a noob to PC hardware and had never built my own PC. Got in to it seriously the past nine months or so and got sucked in to the RT hype and thought Nvidia was the way to go and AMD was some sort of compromise.

Until I read up that only certain games support RT and that performance takes a hit unless you use other software boosts to compensate like DLSS and such, which is still kind of....."artificial."

People obviously like it but not all game support it and even fewer support it well enough. Doesn't seem to be worth it on 4070 and lower models.

It definitely isn't. Ray tracing is the biggest gimmick of them all. In engine baked lighting has become so good that you don't need ray tracing to have a great experience.

Dlss 2.0 is great though. Dlss 3.0 can shove it, I don't want extra frames if there are no latency improvements.

Deal isn't dead but rather got better by $50 unless I am missing something. Appears to be a solid build for $1200.

Yep, the price got raised so this post was marked as expired, but that was actually in preparation for the $50 price drop from the sale at MicroCenter right now.

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on this. It looks like it's part of a MC 3 day sale. I'm not some PC parts guru, but the GPU appears to be about equivalent to a 4070 and the CPU seems decent. I'm actually not a big AMD GPU fan because I always have problems with their GPUs, but more likely to get a desktop with an AMD GPU as opposed to a mobile AMD.

Anybody pull the trigger on this and have it running?
