This or the TCL Q7? I know this was neck and neck with the TCL 6 series (last year's model) and initial reviews of the Q7 are favorable.

Have they fixed the U8H HDR processing issues (smearing)

I just picked up the Q7 for this price a couple weeks ago and I'm very happy with it.

That being said, rtings looooves the U8H and says the picture quality is nearly indistinguishable from an OLED. Had this been $600 when I bought my Q7, I probably would've got this instead.
