The G2 is quite comparable but technically higher-end. They are rated similarly with the G2 leading by a few points in some areas. The main difference is the inclusion of a heatsink on the G2 allowing it to display brighter more vibrant images and colors; about 10% brighter to be exact. RTINGS gave the G2 a 9.0 and the C2 an 8.8 and said this:
"The LG G2 OLED and the LG C2 OLED offer nearly identical performance, but some important design differences exist. The G2 is a bit brighter overall, especially when displaying small, bright areas in HDR, but the difference is minor. On the other hand, unlike the G2, which is designed to be wall-mounted, the C2 includes a stand, giving you a bit more versatility out of the box."

I have a 65" G2 and the included wall mount is incredible and a great value, but if you can't mount it, the C2 is a better choice. Another thing to note is that the smallest G2 is a 55", while this is a 42", so that could limit you.
I'd pick based on deals, I got a G2 on a great sale but the difference are fairly negligible.

Damn nice. Should I get 5 year geek squad protection for $150? Do the C2's suffer from burn in?

I have mine for roughly a year and not a single issue. No burn in or dead pixels. Using it as a monitor, mainly for PC gaming.

Needing a protection plan would depend on how you treat it. I don't let static images stay for an excessive amount of time. When I am not gaming I use one of my two other LCDs. I turned on auto pixel refresher.

seems like best buy hasn't updated the open box prices or keeping them less of a discount. Still the same open box prices when they were selling at $850 new. Last time they had it $799 new the open boxes were $50 cheaper but also they didn't allow shipping of open box.

It was $50 cheaper a month ago. Best Buy also is slowly becoming garbage. Their customer service specifically the online one is extremely rude and unhelpful. Kinda expected from outsourcing to India, but this is next level.
They cancelled orders I had with them because they were "out of stock". Their system is bananas and glitchy.
