Pretty good display for the price as you will find mostly budget 4K Displays with either no local dimming or edge lit dimming at slightly higher price. This one has 1000 zone MiniLED backlight, making it one of the best HDR display below 1000 USD mark.

is this good as work monitor? I know everyone hates this for gaming but for MacBook Pro it looks promising on spec sheet with 144hz refresh rate, 4k display

I just pulled the trigger on the 34" UW Dell 3422DWG for $350 and now I see this. I imagine ultrawide is better as a general purpose between gaming and productivity? Did I make the wrong choice?

I think the point is that you can do this in the driver settings with pretty much any monitor when using a Geforce or Radeon card. The monitor EDID method MAY be slightly more convenient I suppose... doubt it though.

I basically have both aspects, I used to love UW displays but the "cut" off in games and videos ruined it for me atleast. I do enjoy this aspect more since I like to game on tv's.

UW are fantastic for shooters and now I use my UW for the my sim racing setup which i love
