how does this compare to the older style coolers? I have not purchased a new cooler in over a decade, are these worth upgrading to over the basic old style coolers? The looks of the construction make it look like it would be a considerable improvement but I just don't know.

I saw this too in my local Costco and declined because the cooler has no wheels. Would be a pain to transport.

most of these "extra-insulated" coolers do not because the walls are so thick and the wheels would have to make it even wider. most I've seen in this style have handles

They're for people who travel without refrigeration for the better part of a week or who need to own the best of everything. If your use cases are a beer cooler at a BBQ or day or even weekend excursions, save your money and use your old cooler.
