They do not play well with consumer equipment. Monitors work best with a balanced audio system and pro level equipment. Most likely you WILL induce a ground loop using single ended cables connected to a PC or stereo.
Generally, monitors do not have additional inputs, Bluetooth, USB, dacs, or subwoofer outputs.
Each unit requires a power cable and an input cable.
The gains in the rear are back there for a reason, they are not volume controls. They are trim adjustments to balance out your system and leave alone, forever. Active monitors are meant to have a mixer or monitor controller that will be your "main volume".
Think long and hard before you think you need these, there are better consumer powered speakers out there for your normal music listening.

E7 XT does sound nice and wide with good source. I could hear many little details i've missed. At $99ea ($199/pair) It should be fine for movie or music listening at distance.

I bought the JBL 306s during a sale to use as multimedia speakers. Though the 306s sounded great, I returned them because of the inconvenience.
1. Computer headphone jack > 1/8″ to RCA cable > Speaker RCA inputs.
2. Computer headphone jack > 1/8″ to dual 1/4″ TS cable > Speaker 1/4″ inputs.
