Can you take the heatsink off of these to make them fit properly in a laptop? I was thinking of getting this for my workstation rather than a PS5 (afterall this 2tb 980 pro w/ heatsink costs less than without the heatsink).

I looked online for recommendations and although it's possible, a number of people said, they damaged the drive while doing so. The heat sink on this is massive and I could not fit it in any laptop I came across.

Thanks, I was a bit misled because in the description it mentioned that it fits most applications. I appreciate it, guess I'll have to pass on this drive and I'll look into getting the normal one or the WD SN850X deal for 2tb.

Samsung 980 pro w/ heatsink vs. WD SN850x? The Samsung w/o heatsink was $90 at Samsung site. Will the heatsink makes noticeable difference in performance when you use your desktop for a long time, like having it on for most of the day? I'm thinking of getting one for an AIO desktop PC.
