Does anyone know if this drive w/heatsink would fit a HP Omen 25L? I believe any 2nd ssd has to go under the graphics card.

probably, most every motherboard does that now. The hinky ones are under a cpu tower edge, makes it hard to insert at a steep enough angle, gpu is easier to remove to install.

Anyone know how effective the stock heatsink on these are, versus the cheapo pseudo-brand ones that are commonly found online for $8-10 are?

I got in on the 30% off deal for using Discover rewards the other day, when the non-heatsink version was this price (so $70+tax for me). If only I'd waited I could have had this, same price. Could I get the same amount of cooling effectiveness with one of those cheap aftermarket heatsinks?

Thanks again. I already have 1TB Samsung 970 SSD. I purchased an adapter and it works really well. Thinking of upgrading but I might look for one without heatsink.

Thanks for helping me.

Can you take the heatsink off of these to make them fit properly in a laptop? I was thinking of getting this for my workstation rather than a PS5 (afterall this 2tb 980 pro w/ heatsink costs less than without the heatsink).
You would have to break the warranty seal sticker.

I bought the 2TB Samsung 980 PRO with Heatsink with the intention of using it in my 6 year old Dell Latitude e5470 laptop. The laptop has a thickness of (.91"). The 2TB Samsung 980 PRO with Heatsink has a thickness of (.34"). It fits in my laptop but very snugly. I was able to put the bottom plate and tighten the screws as normal.

I thought about taking off the thick heatsink but decided not to because it is so beautifully and I did not want to mess things up. I was able to put it in my laptop but very snugly.

The after market is likely more effective, this one is style and sizes fit fit clearance more than cooling.

Nice. Ordered yesterday for my brother. Weird thing about it, shipment says 2 day prime but on the bottom says July 31st - august 3rd 🤷🏽 ♂️

That's what I picked up a few days ago. Works fine on my PS5. Told my brother about this deal and I just ended up picking it up for him since he's out of work at the moment.
