If you're not in a hurry then just wait until BF. It should get cheaper.

The Pro is only useful if you have a device with USB 3.2 2x2 support. If you are on a Mac, you will likely get the same performance from both models as they will both run at 10 Gbps.

If the warranty is different, then that may be a factor.

Both should be very solid choices. I've been using the Sandisk since the original 500GB model and had no issues.

I've used T7 (non-rugged) as well with no issues.

I think the sandisk is slightly smaller than the T7, but not by a large amount.

FYI: I believe I have read/seen some reviews on YouTube about the Sandisk portable 4TB version (I think both Extreme and Extreme Pro) having some (major) quality issues - like dying within a few days/weeks. So just a heads-up about that.

I debated between the Samsung T7 Shield 4TB and the SanDisk 4TB a few months ago and ended up getting 2x of the Samsungs Shields ($249 which was a steal at the time lol). Over the past few months they have both performed stupidly fast and reliably w/ my Macs. The Shields each come with a USB-C and USB-A cable as well.

A coworker has one of the 4TB SanDisks and he likes it. I will say that the SanDisk is a little smaller and lighter weight than the Shield.. But the Shield has a higher IP and shock rating. Anecdotally, I noticed his SanDisk gets hotter faster when transferring a lot of files at once and is more prone to scuffing/scratching (if that bothers you) than the Shield due to it's hard plastic vs the Shield's rubberized outer covering.

As far as reliability goes, I read one too many reviews complaining of compound oozing out of the SanDisk, or it overheating and cooking itself or losing data. I know it's hard to not get bogged down in reviews, but the amount of reports of these quality issues was far higher on the Sandisk than the Samsung so that too swayed me to the T7 Shield.

Lastly, I had absolutely no problem applying P-Touch labels to either drive (I noticed many comments saying people could not get labels to stick to the Shields during my decision-making process haha). I'd highly recommend the 4TB Shields!
