has Lexar gotten any better? Every Lexar data device I have bought in the past has died a premature death, taking my data with it.

but the steam deck is just a weaker portable PC. you can actually run Steam on an ally if you really wanted to, it's not like you play video games in the operating system or user interface menu.
also, you can absolutely play your steam games from the asus ally

Actually my replies are due to the sales like comments of the steam deck in this thread.
What's really funny, is I actually bought one of the steam PC's back in the day-- it was my first gaming PC. In fact. What's funny is they don't make those anymore. They, Valve, just stop supporting them. And then Steam made this thing called the Steam Link-- which they also dropped support for, including their controller, the steam controller.
It's just funny that people would rally around the steam deck which is toting a higher price for lower specs. All because it has the word steam on it when you can literally run steam off of any PC including an asus. Ally which has better specs.

Stronger specs are partially canceled out by the higher render resolution at 1080p, Windows is a major usability hindrance on a handheld, no track pads, Asus is known for crap software support, steam deck is almost half the price. Great device, but it still has a few downsides compared to the Steam Deck. Not to mention how weird ASUS was about not saying "steam deck" during their showcase of the ally when mentioning that competitor to a point it was just awkward.

For the ones complaining, these micro sd works great on my Steam Deck, got Batocera installed. And also with the ROG Ally, got Forza Horizon 5 installed on it and runs nice.

And to get a decent gaming experience on the Ally ("console experience", decent battery life, decent performance), today, you have to jump through a million hoops. See here:

Or just get a Steam Deck and turn it on and it works. No updating your drivers from github or torrents every day, no browsing Discord for fixes to this or that, you just turn it on and it works.

Have this in Rog Ally, works well despite everyone saying their SD cards are dying. Even demanding games run just fine to be honest.

I haven't tested but I feel this is slower than the $95 SanDisk Extreme card.

I got the SP a2 card. Upgraded from my a2 SanDisk. Works just a great on my steam deck
