I don't buy apple products so I don't know if this is a good price point to purchase this at. Will I be better off waiting for Black Friday or when is an ideal time to buy the current gen ipad? Appreciate any insight. Thanks.

Buy the $250 iPad. Much more bang for the buck.
Until this reaches around $320 it's not going to be worth it.

Is that the 9th gen? I was considering it until I saw it has the lightning connection as opposed to usb-c on the 10th gen. Seemed liked a deal breaker to me?

The cheapest that I have seen the iPad 10th Gen was $349 via Costco. No idea what the future will bring as far as Black Friday etc, but you should do your research on this model to see if it meets your needs. There are some valid criticisms: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=C6Ni9rH6VmA

Lightning is ubiquitous and I wouldn't consider it a deal breaker. Obviously it's on the way out, but the installed base of Lightning is huge and it's fine for iPads and iPhones.

Although the $250 iPad is a far better value, what may be considered a deal breaker is the puny 3GB of RAM (the base storage sucks too, but that's the Apple tax for you). Although not a problem today, the low amount of main memory could be a limiting factor in just a couple years.

$380 is a good price but it's a bit early to be buying for Christmas (you'd essentially be eating 180 days of the product warranty). I thought this is the best price it's ever been at; but $350 at Costco would be a great deal. At that price, I'd pay the extra $100 to be more future-proof.

Exactly. 64K is useless really. These days you can download magazines, books, and content from the streaming websites like Netflix etc. At $380 for a really aging tablet I dont see it. Now If somebody wanted to use this primarily in house watching streaming content, things like that the price for 64K would really need to be 250 for that purpose.
