Just because you've never heard of AWOL doesn't make it "generic". Read up on the company and products before commenting.

The LG you're referencing is single laser with a color wheel. This is triple laser. Also this projector does 3D and has better input lag than the LG for gaming which could be important for a segment of buyers.

Everybody has to start somewhere. You can't depend on the big companies for niche products all the time. 3D is a niche, and Sony, Samsung, etc have completely failed the consumer on the TV side of things and haven't done a whole lot better on the projector side.

Honestly 2k or 5k is not that big of a risk compared to some laser projectors that are 10k, 20k, etc.

I have a jmgo 01 and I see their 4k model is on sale for 1500 right now. If my current projector wasn't doing just fine I'd be pretty dang tempted

This is the 2500 not the 3500. The 3500 ranks near the top for UST projectors right now, just waaaay more expensive than the 2500. Still supposed to be really good!

Can anyone recommend an UST screen as well? Bought a projector but can't decide what the best screen would be. I'll be putting it in my basement so it will be pretty dark in there
