Actually got the cheapo 599 deal on adorama for the $69 and bought an adapter to 3.5 mm from Amazon and sent it to my dad. He's broken so many headphones. I'm just not going to send him a $400 headphones set.
I sent him a $400 headphone sent in the past... It didn't go well
I'm currently using the Cayin RU6 to power the 660S2 but you can use good, cheaper dongles like FiiO KA5, iBasso DC04 Pro, or HiBy FC4. DC04 Pro and FC4 are both on sale right now with Amazon Prime.

I think the 660s2 has the best "technicalities" (i.e., details, staging, dynamics, etc.) of the 600 series, although maybe has the least prominent famous tone/timbre.
Would happily buy this at this price to replace my 660s.
Edit: Lot of people would probably disagree, but the whole 600 series do seem to benefit when paired with the right amp. Would not recommend these if you don't have an amp or intend on getting a decent one in the near future.

I have some ~$30 chineasium IEMs (Linsoul Kiwi Ears Cadenza), that amped and eq'd with a $110 Qudelix 5K that to my ears sounded sonically the same as the balance cable amped $300 planar Sundaras that I returned after a lengthy A/B comparison.
However the IEMs don't fit 100% great in my ears (yes, I've fiddled with many different tips) and they're a pain using at work when I need to impromptu have a conversation when a co-worker comes over.
