This is dead. Had it in my cart a few hours ago waiting to add another item and price went up. I think it's completely gone now from the link provided.

why add another item? sounds like you dont have prime and trying to add more for free shipping? for prime. just check out every single item. separately.

Thanks for the heads up but it wasn't available the two times I checked (earlier in the day and when I posted my previous comment), just like it isn't now. Seems like it might be going in and out of stock at this price like Amazon does sometimes.

If you must know...I do have Prime, but I live a state that charges a 'retail delivery fee' for every online order that has to get delivered to your home. It's not a lot, but I refuse to pay it for every single item when Amazon has a single item on sale. Unless I really need the item or the deal is too good to pass up I just hold on to the item until I find at least one more item that I need from Amazon. In this case the puzzle was a "nice to have" but no real urgent need for it.

thanks, wasnt aware of that "retail delivery fee" until i googled it after your reply. one of the articles mentioned its due to the pandemic. now its over, can they just get rid of it?

on a side note. i did order 1 without any problem. right after your post. its a nice time killer.

No, not pandemic related here. It's a bill they passed middle of last year for all deliveries made by motor vehicle to help fund the states infrastructure plan, supposedly for the reason below...

"..creating new sources of dedicated funding and new state enterprises to preserve, improve, and expand existing transportation infrastructure, develop the modernized infrastructure needed to support the widespread adoption of electric motor vehicles, and mitigate environmental and health impacts of transportation system use."

I was able to grab one too after I saw your post. Thanks for the heads up.

this is what i read:

Quote :
The fee came at least partially in response to the increase in online sales and deliveries that occurred during the pandemic.

didnt read the whole article. but it could be one of the reasons as well.

That might be partly the reason they started looking into it and why they added the language of mitigate environmental and health impacts of transportation system use, but they will not remove it because the pandemic is over. They're using it to help fund their infrastructure plan so it will be around for a long time, not sure if they had an end date or if they had to vote on it again.

why would they vote on it again if nobody cares to speak up? just keep taxing them until someone complains. or just keep it quiet and collect more money.

I think I remember some state politicians trying to fight it but I guess it nothing came if it. They did create an exception this year for small businesses that had retail sales of $500,000 or less per year (maybe this is what they were fighting for, not sure).

They also increased it this year (July 2023) for inflation adjustment, just one cent though. And they also make sure to let people know that it is not a tax, it is a "fee". Can't find the language that says that but I had read it earlier today.

There was also an uproar because some counties were charging sales tax on the fee portion of your invoice (not much, but it's still crappy they would do that). I think they ended up stopping that, they claimed it was a clerical error.
