Agreed.

And a shout out to A4L - I recently had a very minor issue with a pair of Focal Headphones purchased from them. Not only did they authorize an RMA to exchange the headphones, but they also arranged cross-shipment. Granted, that probably saved me only several days at best - but still a great way to deal out excellent customer service!

Seems to vary wildly. First year is with A4L, next four years is with cps, which seems to be awful. Even the first year sounds very hit or miss

Actually 1st year is manufacture the other 4 are CPS.
If you prefer Marantz this a good price for this.
Marantz sound with internal components of the 4800(vs 3800).

FYI if you bought this and were considering Dirac, they have a 30% off until the 26th.

BIG thank you to zhelder for this post. I was trying to catch Amazon's Lightning deal on this receiver for $1999 but this was even better. Ordered mine today.

UPDATE 12/8: New receiver arrived on Wednesday in undamaged double box, but have not had time to even open it yet. I will be completely disassembling my audio rack tomorrow in order to clean and rearrange remaining components, install new receiver and 4K Blu-Ray player, connect everything and neaten up with cable wraps and ties, calibrate speakers and room EQ. Should take me a good part of the day, but goal is to be able to watch one of the new 4K Blu-rays I just purchased by tomorrow night so I can fully experience what new TV and receiver can deliver. Initially will be using existing speakers which include a pair of Acoustat Spectra 4400s (7 ft tall electrostatic quad-driver towers from the '60s), a Klipsch RC-3 center, four Energy in-ceiling speakers and a 15" Velodyne powered sub (shakes the whole 2-story house when cranked), which I will be re-configuring in a 5.1.2 format using the existing two side ceiling speakers for Atmos height. Eventually I plan to upgrade the ceiling speakers and add a second pair of Atmos height ones about halfway between the sides and mains. My family room does not allow for ear-level sides and rears so have to make do with in-ceilings for those. Stay tuned for the next installment.

UPDATE 12/13: I was mistaken about double boxing, but it was very well packed. Externally receiver looks pristine - very clean, no scratches, dents or dings. Full day disconnecting, cleaning, reconnecting components, then trying to figure out how to get TV sound through system. Eventually sorted that out, but ran into some issues using the HDMI eARC connection between TV and receiver. I set up the HDMI eARC properly on both TV & receiver. but initially I could only get PCM output to receiver, which of course, only provides stereo and no surround. Then when I did get digital through eARC, the sound would drop out randomly and frequently. This has apparently been a common issue and lots of forum discussions on the subject. Long story short, I was eventually able to get it working mostly properly by changing the Sound>Expert setting on the TV to turn off HDMI eARC and then it worked and now getting surround to receiver. On TV it shows connected to HDMI for digital sound and that is confirmed by Marantz AVR app on my Android tablet. Seems somewhat counter-intuitive, but eARC control of basic receiver functions still works.

The Audessy speaker calibration was much nicer, easier and quicker than the old version on my SR5005 (no prolonged periods of pink noise blasting eardurms into oblivion). My only complaint is that it wouldn't allow me to set the side ceiling speakers to height and the rears to surround, only the other way around. In the process it confirmed that I had a blown tweeter in one of my rear ceiling speakers, so next year I will probably replace the four existing ceiling speakers and add another pair of height speakers more toward the front sides.

Is this the equivalent of a "new" denon x4800?

I got mine today, it looks like a open box (or someone bought it and returned it). Aesthetically no signs of use. Looks like a new one (but open box). Came in the original Marantz box with previously opened tape, and a new tape on top of the original one. I will connect it this weekend and let you all know.
