This movie borderline angered me. It was so ineptly made, and squandered its legacy cast in such a strange and frustrating manner. I like Chris Pratt but I've never seen an actor look so visibly "clocked out" and no doubt it had to do with production turmoil, as I believe the original director stepped away last minute and I could be wrong but the overall vibe I got was that they were winging this as they went along and didn't really have a complete or acceptable script before they rushed into production. The whole storyline with the giant insects, cloned humans and the evil Tim Cook scientist guy was just… bizarre. You bring back Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum and Laura Dern and you focus on this weird subplot that has nothing to do, really, with the prior films? The giant locust stuff seemed so perplexingly misplaced and misguided.
The second film in the reboot series was not very memorable, but it was also not particularly bad. It was just kind of mediocre. This one was *bad*. Unforgivably so, imo. I just cannot believe they brought back the core actors from the original series and blew the opportunity to make a halfway enjoyable film. Shameful.
