You'll have to be more specific I know the power draw of what I have.

Small Window AC 5k btu ~600w maybe ~8hrs

Large 12k btu dual hose portable ac ~1000w so ~4.x hours

Central heat and air is a no go.. it's not 240 or even powerful enough to start it.

Don't forget you will lose some % in transfer so it's not straight kWh stored to demand.
Thanks, for doing the math, I was roughly guessing 10 hours for a really small unit, without taking transfer into account.

I think it is worth mentioning if someone is looking at a 5000 BTU for RV / camping that some of those units run at 400 Watts duty cycle and 2x that at startup. If you account for the compressor not running 100% of the time I think you can optimistically squeeze quite a few more hours out of it.

Are these units safe to charge inside a home all the time ? Thinking of using it for my homelab to supply power. We get outages in winter. I use regular ups's but they only last so long.
LiFePO4 batteries should not be charged at or below freezing, and the charge / discharge power derates between freezing and room temp. Make sure that where you put it maintains a comfortable temp in summer and winter. Other than that, this chemistry handles a much longer cycle life than most others.

Yeah this isn't a terrible price compared to units around this spec.

It's not a really good power outage solution for the $$ if your situation allows for a real generator.

I do have two niche scenarios though I'm debating for it though, one is power for a security system (would last at least a week maybe two lol) where I need the base to be inside so it doesn't get stolen, and another for a ups of sorts for an RV ( not even sure it would work ).

Yeah I am really torn. My situation allows for a Honda 2200 generator. But I love the idea of green power and solar to charge this.

Depends on input wattage from solar and/or charger and the size of on board battery in amp hours. usually 10 hours or more on large models.

If you are buying this for emergencies I wouldn't, my experience with solar is that it's highly variable in terms of power generation. Clouds, pollen, dirt, snow, ice, etc can all make it produce significantly less power, I would want at least 800w of solar panels if I were trying to recharge this every day with solar ( and that might still not be enough on some days ).

My use case is more as a UPS for an RV where the gas generator ( which is a powerboost f150 with 7.2kw built in generator ) isn't connected to the RV and I can still power it for 2-3 hours if I need to run to town or away from the campsite for a bit... ( gas generators are banned in a lot of places I camp due to noise but a running truck doesn't tend to raise any eyebrows ). This is the main reason I am considering it.

There are other scenarios, but a much smaller battery pack would have covered those use cases.

I recently went camping and used my power boost run my CPAP machine through the night. The truck only fired up every half hour so it ran for 5 minutes to recharge the hybrid battery. None of the other campers complained about my truck going starting up intermittently through the night. I definitely didn't notice it.

Yeah the pro-power on the powerboost is amazing for sure, even when we had a multi-day power outage at our house earlier this year I experienced the same thing where it would run about 5 minutes then shut off for 20 or so. We fed into the panel ( interlock kit ) and power pretty much everything aside from the central heat/air units. If you look in the settings on the truck it also has a option to do a lower/higher rpm in generator mode to cut down on noise even more, ford REALLY did a good job with that option.

I think over a 2.5 day outage it added like 7 hours or something to the engine meter really wasn't bad at all.
