Melinda's is owned and operated by crooks
Marie Sharp, a Belizean entrepreneur, originally created the hot sauce that became known as Melinda's. However, due to a business disagreement with her U.S. distributor, Figueroa Brothers, she lost the rights to the Melinda's name in the United States.
The Figueroa Brothers continued to produce hot sauce under the Melinda's name, but without Marie Sharp's involvement. This has led to accusations of them being "crooks" by some fans of the original Marie Sharp's hot sauce, who feel that the Figueroa Brothers unfairly took advantage of Marie Sharp.
Marie Sharp has since started a new hot sauce company under her own name, Marie Sharp's Fine Foods Ltd., which is still in operation today.
