Imagine going back in time to the 90's and showing people that you could get a completely flat, crystal clear, 50" image on a tv and it would only cost them what would equate to around $100 in 90's money.
Picked up the Philips today and got it setup for a test drive. Also returned the Pioneer 50 LED to Best Buy on the way since I didn't mind shelling out $80 more for the QLED and software simulated 120 Hz.

After viewing the Philips, I felt like I was having buyers remorse. I threw a ton of UHD content at it and I kept getting this feeling that the images were blown out on highlights. The settings on this TV were very limited and I couldn't get the brights to calm down. Even my wife, who is not an image snob like me, even made a comment that the images were too blown out and bright on highlighted surfaces. Perhaps a software update can fix it, but I dunno. QLED or not, the highlights are out of control and the minimal settings available do not seem to correct the issue.
If any of you figure out a sweet spot, please let me know!
Also, the viewing angles on the Pioneer were much better. The Philips is much more narrow.
I'm also not feeling so much of a fan of the Roku UI. The Fire TV UI is more to my liking, but I understand that it's a personal preference.
The settings on the Pioneer seemed to have more options to play with to dial in custom user images. The Philips felt more like presets, with some adjustments to tweak the presets.
For the money, I just feel like my experience on the Pioneer was better, and part of me wants that one back.
I have a target circle offer for an additional $20 off

Also there are no Google search results for 50PUL7973. I believe because its a new 2023 model. Phillips is a good company. I got one, lets see how it goes. Looks like TVs like this (4k, good brand, 50") go for $500 or more

That's the case since 15 years ago (2008). "Funai has represented Philips TVs in North America since 2008".
Any evidence their TVs arent any good anymore?

$20 off the TV, plus $15 target circle when spending $80+. Have to opt in to both offers.

Ill try it. Opened red card and got 15 off plus 40 credit for opening. Got to take down the 1080p 50 in the guest bedroom so Plex doesnt have to transcode 4k movies. Seems to be a good deal with all the features at that price.

Where's the $15 off $80+? Is that YMMV or for a different Home care items purchase? Or the $20 target circle earnings on purchases of $90+ twice?
