Obviously I'm assuming people aren't returning their months-old well-used bulbs. Do they track serials?

The discount was active during the prime day. Not anymore

They track serials for big-ticket items, but I highly doubt they're looking at a serial on a $15 LED bulb. There's always a chance someone could return an old bulb in the packaging, but I would imagine most people that do that try to get away with a Dollar Tree bulb in the return. Hue bulbs are rated to have (on average) 80% of their brightness after 12-15 years. I doubt many people buying the most expensive consumer LED bulbs on the market are putting in the effort to sneak their 10 year old Hue bulb into an Amazon return.
once again I've re-learned not to read all the comments before buying

On the other hand, I've all sorts of "acceptable" items at crazy discounts and all that was wrong was the package was destroyed. Brand new SanDisk 2Tb Extreme Pro external SSD two years ago at 60% off retail bc it was "acceptable."
