I have this lamp and I'm hard pressed to say it's worth even $79. It's a good lamp but the newer models with the wider color dynamic bases would be better purchased for a bit more.

$150? It's essentially a light strip inserted into a vertical bar.

Won't knock govee as I like their products but their pricing strategies are just way out there in terms of reasonable pricing.

Aside:
The new Govee Lamp 2 with matter was priced at $100 with $50 off on govee not long back.
Posting this as an FYI to anyone who might be considering this light.

I bought it. Despite all efforts, I just could not find it to be adequate for my needs, it's simply not bright enough. I had a friend bring over his Philips hue, a similar product but it costs more than three times the cost of the govee. We did several side by side comparisons. The hue was significantly better for brightness and color accuracy. The govee when at its full brightness had somewhat washed out colors.

I ended up returning the govee and will get the hue whenever it goes on sale.

Again, this was just my use case scenario, perhaps the govee would be just the right fit for you. Good luck.
I'm pretty sure this is hardware revision 2, which resolved the previous problems.

it's $27 more than Govee RGBICW Smart Corner Floor Lamp

would you say the extra cost is worth it?

Yes, In general, go for the brightest you can afford and try and get two at a time. And the wider the frequency range, especially in the lower range, the better. The lower you go, the more you get the color from natural sunsets, sunrises, candlelight.

I got 2 previously for $59 each on an obvious eBay pr!ce 3rr0r. They are nice. Have them linked to my T2 for movie watching dreamview and makes the whole experience much more immersive

Is this the newest edition? Probably a dumb question but straight up I can't tell which is which. Govee never makes sense to me either with their prices. I got the T3 for the TV, it's newer than the T2 but was cheaper. Crazy LoL

I've got a few of their light bars, LED tv strip immersion, etc, do these serve a similar somewhat gimicky environmental lighting function or are they actually useful as lamps too?

Probably not as good, but these Fitop smart corner floor lamps are only $22.19 with 40% off coupon (with Prime I'm assuming). I have a few of these and they work well for me.

I agree with this sentiment.
I have this Lyra lamp and a Hue signe table lamp.

My Hue Signe table lamp is better built, brighter and more color accurate than this floor lamp lol

The Govee App, even if you disregard the privacy nightmare that it is, is a jumbled mess of a UI compared to Hue's.

This gets posted every few months. And without fail you'll see comments from customers saying it's not worth the price tag. Save up and buy a Hue lamp used or when it's on sale. If something is on the front page every few months then it's probably not a great product IMO.
