MT3 is a very tall keycap profile. They're pretty thick as well. More material used and because they're taller and sculpted, it takes more to manufacture correctly. I believe they're officially licensed as well, which adds to cost.

Mechanical keyboards are a niche hobby. There are keycap sets in the $150-200 range. People pay even more for sets that aren't being made anymore.

They're mostly kits from groupbuys. I've got a windx 98 for work and rotate between a QK75, Ginkgo65, and Tiger Lite at home.
