S7 lifts up when it detects a carpet/area rug during mopping. Whereas Q7 max don't.
So it's a personal preference on which one you wanna get.
More suction power on Q7 max doesn't matter when using for day to day cleaning. Both does the job well.

S7 has a rotating mop instead of the passive one on the Q7 and can lift the mop up. For the same price as the Q7 Max from yesterday, it's a no brainer.

I think it really depends on the use case. The Q7 max will perform better in carpet due to the higher sucking power. But in my use case, I have no carpet, all wood/tile with some floor mats, hence I picked S7 for the same price.
BTW: IMHO, the separate dust bin and water tank should be more convenient than a combined dust bin & water tank in day to day use.

I think you have that backwards, I have the S7, it's mops definitely don't rotate

I don't it rotates. The feature was called "sonic mopping " - I can't wait to see how it performs

IMO I'd skip this and get the S7+ refurb from the Roborock eBay listing (440 on sale). They come in new condition, have a 3rd party extended warranty through Allstate (via eBay), and the base itself is very nice.

Bought one myself after returning the S7 MaxV Plus (didn't find the better obstacle avoidance and higher suction stats worth more than double the price). Also then bought the bagless add-on from AliExpress (no longer sold) as well as the Q5 brush for better carpet+fur changing. Only thing I miss is the Routines functionality of the higher model.
