I have this monitor. Came with a bunch of dead pixels and dealing with Samsung customer service to fix it has been an absolute nightmare. No complaints about the monitor itself however in the future will not be buying Samsung

Thoughts on the 1000R radius at this size/width?

The monoprice Dark Matter is comparable - less expensive, VA, but 1800R.

This is my first curved monitor tbh and have personally never seen or had experience with the 1800R but I can say that I haven't become bothered by it at this point
