Usually when I see the name Staedtler, I expect high quality stuff. This looks like cheap Chinese junk. Sad to see they even put their name on this stuff.

Since 2000s, brand names are not synonymous with quality anymore. Every crarp is made in China anyway, whether it is staedtler or some other brand.

They only teach it to the smart kids at good schools who can and will learn things of value.

The rest are fed political slogans and gender nonsense, they can't tell time, they can't read cursive writing, they think Europe is a country, they don't know anything real about the US, and sadly they will ultimately be discarded as garbage because they have no worth to a grown up society...

I see slightly better quality sets for $7-$10, much better quality sets for around $12. The dividers, sharpener, and eraser are worthless, and shouldn't count to the pieces total, and this drawing compass looks to be of quite poor quality. Maybe worth this price, just, but for the convenience of having it shipped, if your kid needs it for school...

I see your point but my kids lose or break their sets every year even if it is high quality as all kids do and we need to buy a new one anyway. So we usually go for cheap dollar store sets, atleast these will last longer and cost almost the same as dollar store ones.

I wonder what "better quality sets" you are finding. Yes, the usefulness of the set is highly dependent on the use case, but I purchased this a few years ago from Staples and find that the sharpener held it's edge and sharpened well, the eraser erases well, and the various rulers, squares, protractors are strong and hold up to abuse well. The compass is quite small, which was not useful for me, but I can't find a an obviously better set on Amazon or Temu in the <$12 price range.

I'm sure you must know this, but 1" = 2.54cm and 6" = 15.24cm. Perhaps a seemingly small difference, but not an insignificant error if you're measuring to cut anything...

BTW - this set is garbage....
