Just leaving this comment here for the benefit of others - This is the Edge (Mediatek processor) and not the Edge + with the Snapdragon processor.

Call 833-428-1765 for Costco TMobile and you don't even have to go to the store at all. I did this deal on Sunday.

I popped my sim on my new Moto and I see IMEI showing up in the account. Am I good to go back to my old phone.. and in 40 days i should be able to unlock? Or do I have to use this phone as my primary for 40 days in order to be eligible for unlocking..

Costco cannot confirm that the two phones i want to trade in are unlocked (they are very old) and I run the risk that they are rejected and I will owe $1,000 for the two Motorola phones. Any suggestions? Thanks

I believe you have to use the phone for 40 days straight without removing that SIM card.

Android seems to be different because of the unlock request being 'in' the phone.

On a moto g phone I got from T-Mobile, I clicked to unlock the device. It said I did not qualify because I have not met the 40 day requirement

Also, several years ago, I had cheap androids that T-Mobile gave for 'free' with bill credits. I had put my Chip in the phone and removed it thinking the timer would start. I requested the unlocks but it never went through due to the 40 day rule.

I have managed to unlock iPhones with T-Mobile being less than 40 days via tforce. Android seems different.

I didn't know the phones have to be in unlocked condition.. did they mention it in the terms and conditions? If yes.. probably better to break the screen and send it.. ☺️

Anyone pls confirm if the phones need to network carrier unlocked.. ?

Clever idea to break the screen since these phones will 100% end up in the garbage anyway; however, they looked up the lock/unlock from the IMEI which is behind the battery (yes, old phones used to have a removable battery). I'm thinking of going to T-Mobile where they can hopefully confirm that the phones are eligible for the upgrade and ask them to remove the activation cost. I'll lose the $75 times two but won't risk a $1,000 fee.

Did the phone come with a new sim? or did you use your old sim from an old phone?
I'm wondering if I need to open the box at all and keep it shrink wrap new.

My trade-in phone is a T Mobile locked phone. Does it need to be network carrier unlocked? It seems wried that T Mobile is requesting a T Mobile phone to be unlocked for them to take it as a trade-in.

Went to Costco today, I traded a prepaid Alcatel from at&t which is just sitting in the drawer and upgraded one of my line from simple choice 6gb plan. The associate keep on laughing on how old it is but processed the transaction smoothly and done in about 10 minutes. They don't have stock so it will be shipped to me free of charge except for the tax. Did not offer me insurance add-ons. He asked if I want to trade more, unfortunately, I can't find my flip phone. Will probably try later this week.

I will go in the costco store this weekend hoping to get this deal
Anyone like me have called in costco tmobile # and got trade in phones rejected because they said it shows those phones are locked but called again got the deal went through? Just thinking to give the call# a final try but like to see others experiences first.
I called 4 times already and got all sorts of stuff that they made up....phones are locked, have to use the new moto phone for 24 months in order to get the credits, etc......
Samsung trade in actually is much easier believe or not!! When Samsung says any phone/tablet/earphone any condition, they meant it and no imei # required and if there's issue with trade in, a simple online chatting could always get it fixed...
T-mobile never makes any promotion easy to be honest
I did. First call, my locked phones weren't accpeted. Second call, they still said phones were locked but asked if I wanted to continue anyway. I did and they later again warned me that locked phones might get rejected. If they do reject the phones, I'll show them the screen cap of the offer that says "any phone, any condition."
As for the Costco gift card, they said I wouldn't get it if I had already received a gift card on the upgraded phone lines. That's a new one to me and doesn't seem correct. I'll have to wait and see.

they are also giving me a hard time for this over the phone. it's locked to T-mobile and they are requesting T-mobile to unlock it to process the order. Like what?!?

I believe Iphones will unlock automatically after the 40 days, but I believe you are correct that the sim has to be in place 40 days straight, so you cannot pop it in for a few minutes then remove it for 40 days.

I doubt it. This has never been the case in the past for deals that accept broken phones.

Thanks for confirming this works in-store! I will give it a go since the phone rep could not help me and kept telling me my phones were locked and I was at risk of paying the full price of the phones. Oh and he also said that this offer won't work for me since all lines already have promos? This has not been the case in the past...

I'm going to give it a try in-store even though this will require driving extra distance. Will report back with details if successful.

You can buy Alcatel flip phones for $15 each on Amazon, that's why I did

I was also told the same. They tried to tell me my phones (which were bought unlocked when we first signed up with T-mobile) have never been tied to my account when this is absolutely not the case. I was also told this promo won't work since I already have active promos on my lines, which has not been the case in the past. My rep was twisting words and making false accusations, and even had the nerve to tell me fallacious information from my most recent T-Mobile fb chat (which he didn't even know existed) from yesterday. Oh and he also said the return policy with Costco is 90 days, but I would still have to pay the balance in full if I return it with Costco. I lost it at that point and was not letting this rep touch my account any further.

Edit: To also discredit the rep I had, T-mobile's own website says my phones are not blocked. https://www.t-mobile.com/resource...-own-phone
