I was recently looking to have a 24x36 metal print made and started doing a bunch of research. Aluminyze was actually one of the first metal print shops I started looking into, but the deeper I went into the rabbit hole of metal printing, I realized that not all metal prints are the same quality.

PhotographyTalk on YouTube has some really great videos reviewing metal prints. The top three metal print shops I've found are Shiny Prints, Artbeat Studios and BayPhoto. I ultimately went with Shiny Prints because metal prints are all that they specialize in and based on what I researched about them, they really know what they're doing. Seriously, go read their website and you'll learn about all the things that have to be done to make a great quality metal print (from using Chromaluxe double coated HD metal panels to the amount of time the print has to be in the press).

The second runner up was Artbeat Studios, but what turned me off about them is that they charge extra for "gallery quality" prints while Shiny Prints seems to take pride in what they do and don't use b-stock Chromaluxe panels that other metal print shops use for their "standard quality" prints.

I believe Shiny Prints matches any competitor's pricing.

The only metal prints I've had made were from 100 year-old photos in the Library of Congress archive collection. Something about that combination, I find appealing.

Prices are more or less on par with ArtBeatStudios, who I have used a bunch of times (I'm a Pro Photographer and sell prints). It doesn't seem worth the risk of going elsewhere as ABS has fantastic quality and is also offering 30% off metal prints right now.

Appreciate your recommendation. Which finish do you normally opt for? (White gloss, white matte, white satin, silver gloss, textured matte, or outdoor HD metal?) TIA

I always buy from random Amazon sellers in China and the metal photos always come out great. Yes takes time.

I've used CanvasOnSale via Groupon 3 different times.

Two 40x30 and one 30x20.

Shipping and fees can come out to over $75 each (includes what I paid on Groupon), but they look great and customer service has been awesome for me.

I know this is getting off topic but +1 for BayPhoto!

Are metal photo prints good for a steamy environment like a bathroom?
