I had a pair that had a thick rubber coating over the toe area that I literally wore until the seams elsewhere busted (4+ years) that I much prefer, but don't see too often on deals.

Unfortunately, those 1,000 mile boots will be the last boots I ever buy from Wolverine. Not because of the durability issues (although that's a big thing to consider as well). But because the company contaminated a lot of water in Michigan. So yea, until they make that right I don't plan on buying any Sperrys, Merrels or Hush Puppies (since they own all of those as well).
