Just know you need to vacuum the lines out to remove water and oxygen. So you need a vacuum and guage set. Code requires a disconnect box near the unit. And it should sit on a concrete pad or rack. These are all additional costs you might not be aware of. I just installed one of these and I want to say, don't just match wire colors or you could fry the thing. The use white as line 2 and red as communication between the indoor and outdoor units.

I installed a costway. The remote control stopped working. They sent me a new one no questions asked.

With the bosch unit, the indoor unit drip pan had a crack and they wouldnt even hear my request to escalate it to tech support because a licensed hvac tech didnt install it.

Bruh, 9k is more than enough if any insulation at all lol

I recently installed 18k for a 500 SQ ft living room with 15 ft ceilings and it's far more than enough even when 95F.

18k won't dehumidify such a small space.

Costway claims to honor an 8 year warranty even with a "DIY" installation. That is exceptional, if it's actually true....

Where do you see that? On the 12k page it says after mentioning the warranty: "Please find a professional to install it when you receive the package."

and later in the page under questions: when someone asks "Is this diy" the official answer is "We do not recoomand you DIY by yourself. The installation of the mini split air conditioner can only be completed by a Licensed HVAC Installer." which strongly suggests the opposite (and the lack of a spell check.)

Seems like it would be worth it to spend just a little more and get the 18k BTU unit. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'd be installing this in an insulated 14' x 20' shop.

Does it list how low of an outdoor temp it will efficiently operate as a heater in?

Aux.

Title and specs wrong. Ignore $529 model. They linked 20 seer after ($545)

Also, the manual is wrong, b/c costway is a joke. They're rated for 5* F. This is the aux J smart series from Europe.

Use switchbot mini hub for cheapest IR blaster (wifi control). Use with their therm/hygrometer for cheapest actual temperature control. Or the hub 2.0 for the all in one like overpriced celio.

Bigger isn't always better. These should be properly sized. Look up an online Manual J calculator and run the numbers.

it pains me that a multi-zone system is much more expensive than x single zones.
if i need 6 indoor unites - thats 3000k with this deal, but 6 200A breakers...
6 zone unit will be around 6-7k...

Wut? Multizone is stupid bc of failure and you can't have heating and cooling at same time.
No, you don't need all those circuits. You can run multiple units off one circuit (run one large circuit outside and split). You only need 15A breakers outside (I get the mini breaker outdoor boxes and for whatever reason the breakers are 16A).
As per code, you cant split different branches from one circuit on hvac equipment. Each needs a dedicated circuit to the main board.
