Just know you need to vacuum the lines out to remove water and oxygen. So you need a vacuum and guage set. Code requires a disconnect box near the unit. And it should sit on a concrete pad or rack. These are all additional costs you might not be aware of. I just installed one of these and I want to say, don't just match wire colors or you could fry the thing. The use white as line 2 and red as communication between the indoor and outdoor units.

I installed a costway. The remote control stopped working. They sent me a new one no questions asked.

With the bosch unit, the indoor unit drip pan had a crack and they wouldnt even hear my request to escalate it to tech support because a licensed hvac tech didnt install it.

Bruh, 9k is more than enough if any insulation at all lol

I recently installed 18k for a 500 SQ ft living room with 15 ft ceilings and it's far more than enough even when 95F.

18k won't dehumidify such a small space.

Bought the 18k mini split and did the installation myself. It's working flawlessly for the last 2 months. Well worth the $650 (tax included)

Has anybody installed these mini splits by renting the vacuum pump and manifold gauge from AutoZone? Was the vacuum pump strong enough and was it an issue that the manifold gauge isn't rated for HVAC refrigerant?

Seems like it would be worth it to spend just a little more and get the 18k BTU unit. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'd be installing this in an insulated 14' x 20' shop.
12 k is sufficient. 18k would be oversized depending on quality of insulation install. Oversized is not good.

I'm in Texas so it's hot as hell right now. Only the roof is insulated and I use it as my homebrew shed/man cave. Doors on it are just your standard latching thin steel.

Thats insane. I contacted one in Miami and he asked for $400.
Ha that's lucky. I'm paid 9K labor only in MA to install a 3 head system. Sounds like Florida finally has the competition the rest of the country needs.

It's also a raket in MA because to get the state rebates you need to use one of their preferred licensed installers, all of which just jack up their prices by just about the amount of the rebate.

The 3 head install took 2 guys 3 days, so their effective labor rate was about $200 per guy per hour. Mind you one of the guys is just a helper that probably makes around $20/hr.

On the subject of these systems - If I was doing a self install I would 100% buy an off brand, because you can install 4 of these for what the labor costs to install in most places. Not worth cheaping out on a system if you have to pay thousands to install it.

Anyone have any idea where the length of the lines is mentioned? I think I need to go like 30 ft or something like that.

also does anyone know where the manual PDF is where it mentions the warranty in details?

A lot of units these days have pre-vacuumed lines to avoid the need for a professional installer. I haven't looked at this particular one but I've installed several myself that utilize that advantage with no issues

What units are you installing with vacuumed lines? I've seen the Mr Cool DIY with the precharged linesets but that's it.

Does anyone know if there have been any good deals for dual zones mini splits? Tried searching with no luck and online it seems like it's 2k minimum. It's a 500 and 700 sq foot room so I can probably get away with a 21k.

I'm expanding into the other half of a 3800 Sq Ft store space sectioned off from an old 42k Sq Ft building with 14 ft ceilings. It's located in upstate NY. It is about a foot under grade with concrete floors and brick walls. The building is heated off a central boiler. In the summer it's always a fair amount cooler than outside. I run two dehumidifiers to keep it 50% or less humidity.

With all that said, I need a cheap option other than fans to keep it at a comfortable temp when it's 80+ outside. I was considering a mini-split, but I don't need it for heating. Am I overthinking? Should I just put in a few window units?
