Answers to FAQ:
1. Summary: This is prepaid. No need to cancel. Just stop paying. Most will pay the forced first monthly fee (that comes with initial order) and then simply stop paying. best to use a virtual credit card like from citi for example or a privacy virtual card. initial order cost will be ~150 phone +~40 plan+ ~$15 tax= ~$205. create account on boost or get the app. make sure auto pay is off.
2. Phones are locked to boost,
must provide the seller imei of your phone. send the imei in "message for seller" when u pay.
after u pay, u should get the code back pretty quick. as soon as ~10 minutes.
Then put in a non boost sim. phone will ask for code. enter code u bought from ebay seller. u will be unlocked.
you can find many sellers for $2-4.
search for these seller:
dr.unlock or desbloquealord is quite popular and proven .
[posting direct link violates sd term. dont be lazy. search]
once unlocked, should remain unlocked, even if u run updates, factory restore, etc
the package will have phone and sim in same box. but sim is outside of phone box . No need to ever put in boost sim. infact, if u have no intention of using boost, it is probably a good idea not to insert the boost sim ever. do not sell the boost sim. it has your information on it.
8/19: users reporting ebay sellers that sell unlock code are no longer listed on ebay.
2a. Assuming unlocked. Phone has the bands to communicate with AT&T, T Mobile, and Verizon in the US. Your carrier may need to add the phone's IMEI number to their database before it can interface with the mobile towers.
5. after u place the order. in 2 days, the sim card will auto activate. while in transit to you. many folks are upset because this makes u loose 2-3 days while the phone comes to you. shipping time varies. some in CA take 1 week from order date to receive day. in east coast it may be as short as 1 day. once the item is shipped. u can create a account using computer. then get the app on a spare phone. login. then u can see the exact imei they are sending you.
6. Boost, Ting, and Dish TV are now one company. so do not need to unlock if using them
7. only 1 order per email address. if u want more. need new account w new email addy
8. after unlocking.
i. Work:

Verizon
Tello
ii. NOT WORK:

good summary :
When ordering from Boost, the choices are getting a new number or keep old number. Should you choose getting a new number, Boost will ship the sim and phone pre-activated meaning you will lose service days when the item is in transit. So for people who want to get a full month of service, they will select keep old number but then go through setup for activation. During this setup, the user can choose either a new number or keep old number.
In order to transfer your At&t number to Boost, you would have to give Boost your At&t phone number, account number, and pin number. If you did that, then the process of number transfer has started. If you did not give that information to Boost, it would be impossible to have your number ported.
Even if you selected keep old number during the order process and chose not to activate the sim, Boost will likely activate the sim eventually. If you selected the keep number option at ordering and have no intention of activating the sim, it might be a good idea to keep monitoring the status of the sim in case it gets activated.
Also be aware that by default Boost enables autopay. Metro for instance has autopay disabled by default.
Activating the sim + disabling autopay is what I would suggest rather than just discarding the sim or trying to cancel the service.
Autopay status can be seen in 2 places. One is on the boostmobile.com site. The other is in the Boost One app. Disabling it in either place is fine.
Be aware that should you disable autopay and then decide to replace the payment method with a different card (like one with a low balance), Boost will re-enable autopay. Whenever there is a change in payment method, autopay will be re-enabled
PSA: Extra 21 dollars back at Boost on Capital one Cards YMMV

Major benefit to the a54 is that it's going to be updated for a lot longer.a54 we'll get Android 13 and 14 and 15 and this will probably just get Android 14. And it won't get security patches for as long.
Personally I would go with the Motorola but if I was recommending a phone to a casual user like my mom or my sister I might lean with the a54 just cuz it'll be secure for a longer period of time and they probably wouldn't make use of the flagship features like the desktop mode or the stylus.
The Motorola also has stylus support with an external stylus you can buy, an amazing desktop mode with a dock. Definitely a more premium piece of hardware
Was thinking of getting one but
Slow Moto Android upgrades, no dual sim, avg cam, large size stopped me.
Was going to get it for $50 with in store port in...but boost stores charge MSRP tax, activation fees, and higher plan... Similar to metro stores...so I didn't go that route.

In terms of S22U battery life. I have had zero issues. I never charge my phone more than 85% when I am home (there is a setting for that). When I need longer battery life, I charge to 100%. I am sure there are plenty of phones with better battery life, but I have never felt the need for longer battery life. I am always near a charger at home or in my car. I also carry a battery pack when I travel. The battery life is good enough for my needs. If you work 12 hours a day and are on your phone constantly in bright daylight, the battery life might not be good enough, but I can't think of a single situation besides being caught in an emergency where I need iPhone 14 Pro Max kind of battery life. I also have an S22 that has shorter battery life that I took in a vacation, but I topped it up when in the car or in the hotel, or with a battery pack, so it was never an issue. I did enjoy it's ultra light weight and compact size compared to the bricks that most other phones are (including my S22U).
On S22U forum people complained about the battery, saying S23U last much longer that's why I asked. I have a few 60-65w chargers at home and 27w car charger, I guess I'll need to get a decent laptop power bank just in case
Thanks again!

S23U is better, but to me it is a pointless upgrade as my S22U is good enough when it comes to battery life, and since I got the 256GB S22U, I also get 12GB RAM vs the 8GB that the 256GB S23U comes with. Perfectly happy with my S22U and will not consider upgrading till S24U comes out.

You are correct - none of these chargers supports super fast charging - the spinning wheel is green. Damn, I hate returning $12 ones, they have 9ft cable
You've been very helpful. Thank you very much!
P.S. Any idea why my new Samsung S22 Ultra with android v13 and all latest updates charges slower than Moto Stylus 5G 2022 (15w)? Both are connected to 60-65w chargers.
I started charging when both were mid 40s, now moto is at 80%, while Samsung at 58%
There has never been a case where one carrier variant received the update but other hasn't but ofc expect some delays among various variants. The roll out has started and it should appear in the next few days (check hiphi on lolinet)
The motorola phones I'm used to each had a different firmware branch and most of the carrier branded branches were always bootloader locked. They could be recovered/reimaged with the motorola rescue tool but it would only redo the carrier firmware. Do you know if this is still the case?
I have had the phone for 3 days it's very simple
You order the phone wait for it get to your house. It will come with a SIM do NOT EVEN touch it.
You want to use your old SIM card example I have T Moblie; This phone comes with a cable to do a app and data transfer that's really cool
Setup the phone without the SIM
Go to DRunlock on ebay hit him up on whatsup buy the service it's $4
Make sure he is online he legit took me 2 minutes to be done I did this on whatsup with him I'm sure you can use ebay message as well
He will ask for the IEMi number of the phone give it to him; he will unlock your phone
Put in whatever Service you want to use on the phone for example my T Mobile Sim
Connected to the network I am all set.
It's really that easy at the current price point It's a no brainer the phone does run a bit hot so get a good case
It does suck up the battery a bit due to the big screen
So far I like it.
NEVER activate the boost mobile they can't charge you, Like he said don't even sell the sim it as your info on
You can even block the boost mobile emails if you want
It's a very simple and easy process.
