I have used them both because my friend reviews tech products for a living and I go over and play with them. This is a much stronger processor. It also supports a desktop mode and the a54 does not. This has a glass build wireless charging and a lot more flagship features.

Major benefit to the a54 is that it's going to be updated for a lot longer.a54 we'll get Android 13 and 14 and 15 and this will probably just get Android 14. And it won't get security patches for as long.

Personally I would go with the Motorola but if I was recommending a phone to a casual user like my mom or my sister I might lean with the a54 just cuz it'll be secure for a longer period of time and they probably wouldn't make use of the flagship features like the desktop mode or the stylus.

The Motorola also has stylus support with an external stylus you can buy, an amazing desktop mode with a dock. Definitely a more premium piece of hardware

Yes this been going on for awhile in The Feb thread.

Was thinking of getting one but
Slow Moto Android upgrades, no dual sim, avg cam, large size stopped me.

Was going to get it for $50 with in store port in...but boost stores charge MSRP tax, activation fees, and higher plan... Similar to metro stores...so I didn't go that route.

Just a little review here. I received the phone on Monday and have been using it since. For $200 this phone is a steal. I am updating from a Oneplus 9 that I got last year on a Slickdeal from Best Buy for $150. The biggest issue I had was that it was only 128gb and the OnePlus 7 I had before was 256gb. This being 512gb takes away any space concerns which were a big problem before. The Snapdragon processor is top of the line and for me the Ready Now is a real game changer. I am able the phone on my desktop during work and now I don't need to use the phone itself at all for most things. It will also be great for using on vacation. I can just plug it into any hotel tv and have a desktop like experience or watch whatever I want from the phone. I was able to unlock it right away from Dr. Unlock on eBay who was recommended in the wiki. I am having the tracfone issue mentioned but I will order a new sim to have it transferred before the month of Boost is over. I also use Google Voice as my primary number so the actual service or phone number doesn't matter. No need to port my number when I switch services. I am no expert with cameras and i'm sure the cameras here will meet my simple needs. Overall this is a great deal to get a top of the line flagship phone at a great price.

Check your Boost Mobile account after ordering. I'm a new customer and order the combo one night. They started their 1-month service the next day despite the phone/sim is just being shipped out. Customer support initially said that's the policy, and took a while for them to give me partial credit.

That's very anticonsumer of them, but not really unexpected since this issue is documented in the wiki under point #5. It is amusing, however, that they stated to you that this is their "policy". Since doing this makes no logical sense, I can only assume that Boost's "policy" is to screw the consumer.

Anyone have any luck activating service on the phone in the last couple of days? I actually intend on using boost for a month or two.

I've tried 3 times to actively, once online and twice over the phone to no avail. They said they're having system outages today but they're not having wholesale activation issues

has anyone bought a case with stylus? have a link to share?
Like this: https://www.motorola.com/us/acces...?skuId=810
seems quite expensive for just a stylus and case. Are there any cheaper alternatives just for the stylus at least?

Something is up with the updates for the Boost variant of these phones. All other variants have 13 already. My other Moto phone (G stylus 5G 2022) got 3 different security updates at same time for metro & boost variant. Idk what's up with the Edge+ Boost variant being left behind

I mentioned this a few pages back, the lolinet mirrors are only showing A12 for the Boost variant.
https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmw.../official/

Check Boost there vs another folder, like RETUS (Retail US) variant of the phone, which has many additional updates and has been moved to A13.

Now, the lolinet mirrors are user maintained so it is possible that Boost maybe dropped an A13 update and no one has uploaded it yet. What we need need is people getting the phones in this thread to report back if they OTA update to A13.

This comes with 30W charger, but EU version comes with 68W charger. If we plug this in regular 65W-100W brick will it charge at 68W? Or is it hardware locked to charge at 30W for US version?

They just host firmware for motorola phones, useful for those of us that are trying to re-flash the phone.

The latest "update" for Boost is from March 2023 and is still A12. Literally every other version there shows many updates since then and all of them are A13.

There's nothing complicated about the site, each folder is named for a variant of the phone. International variants are included (India, Mexico, Canada, etc.).

I'm still holding out hope that maybe the Boost folder just isn't updated on lolinet and maybe Boost really does have an OTA. But, it seems unlikely given that all the other versions have it except for Boost at this point.

Anyone with this Boost version phone getting updates? Would you mind reporting back or even screenshot the firmware version on the phone?

I have the Boost version, I'm on Android 12 with a Security Patch dating February 1, 2023.

I've manually looked for a a system updated, and it tells me I have the latest version.

Does this have always on display? My g stylus has peek display only, which means the display is turned of all the time, unless you wake it up, and only then it shows notifications.
But I want the display to be always on, so interested if this one has that feature
