I have used them both because my friend reviews tech products for a living and I go over and play with them. This is a much stronger processor. It also supports a desktop mode and the a54 does not. This has a glass build wireless charging and a lot more flagship features.

Major benefit to the a54 is that it's going to be updated for a lot longer.a54 we'll get Android 13 and 14 and 15 and this will probably just get Android 14. And it won't get security patches for as long.

Personally I would go with the Motorola but if I was recommending a phone to a casual user like my mom or my sister I might lean with the a54 just cuz it'll be secure for a longer period of time and they probably wouldn't make use of the flagship features like the desktop mode or the stylus.

The Motorola also has stylus support with an external stylus you can buy, an amazing desktop mode with a dock. Definitely a more premium piece of hardware

Yes this been going on for awhile in The Feb thread.

Was thinking of getting one but
Slow Moto Android upgrades, no dual sim, avg cam, large size stopped me.

Was going to get it for $50 with in store port in...but boost stores charge MSRP tax, activation fees, and higher plan... Similar to metro stores...so I didn't go that route.

Just a little review here. I received the phone on Monday and have been using it since. For $200 this phone is a steal. I am updating from a Oneplus 9 that I got last year on a Slickdeal from Best Buy for $150. The biggest issue I had was that it was only 128gb and the OnePlus 7 I had before was 256gb. This being 512gb takes away any space concerns which were a big problem before. The Snapdragon processor is top of the line and for me the Ready Now is a real game changer. I am able the phone on my desktop during work and now I don't need to use the phone itself at all for most things. It will also be great for using on vacation. I can just plug it into any hotel tv and have a desktop like experience or watch whatever I want from the phone. I was able to unlock it right away from Dr. Unlock on eBay who was recommended in the wiki. I am having the tracfone issue mentioned but I will order a new sim to have it transferred before the month of Boost is over. I also use Google Voice as my primary number so the actual service or phone number doesn't matter. No need to port my number when I switch services. I am no expert with cameras and i'm sure the cameras here will meet my simple needs. Overall this is a great deal to get a top of the line flagship phone at a great price.

It is odd that the boost motorola edge+ 2022 is still on February 2023 security update though. There is no way a factory unlocked motorola edge+2022 would be on that. Something is off. Why would a boost motorola g stylus 2022 get a security update with July 2023 update and the flagship boost edge+ 2022 be stuck with February security update... My Metro Motorola g stylus 5g 2022 is on the July 2023 security update. Is it motorola or boost fault for the late security update on the edge+ 2022? I'm putting the blame on boost especially if you say that the your boost stylus got the later July 2023 security update.

I remember having some older locked brand phone and the carrier was in charge of sending the specific security update. I believe it was the att moto z2 force. I actually had 2 of them. With one of them, I unlocked it pretty much on day 1 and had no issues with updates. With the other, they didn't accept my unlock request. I couldn't get updates over wifi and no active service. Not sure why but it needed an att sim or att mvno sim to get a system update or security update. One could borrow a relative/friend sim just to update.... After like a year, the locked moto z2 force just unlocked by itself. I got a pop up message. Carriers still have control with updates. It may changed somewhat from the moto z2 force time but I know there is a difference. I have a tracfone moto g power 2020, Google fi moto g power 2020 and unlocked moto g stylus 2020. They all got their updates at different times. The tracfone moto g power 2020 actually got more security updates (beyond 2 years) than the other 2 power phones. Weird. I am guessing the tracfone was released little bit later so it was getting later updates than the others.

Tracfone moto g power 2020: latest security update June 1, 2022
Google Fi moto g power 2020: latest security update April 1, 2022
Factory Unlocked moto g stylus 2020: latest security update April 1, 2022
Moto recently streamlined their firmwares to be very similar across carriers. Very recent change. They require carrier approvals for major releases obviously. boost is not involved in making the base firmware but needs to give the go ahead. All captured OTA links are of Moto domains (back in the day, updates used to be from carriers websites etc)

Boost needs to give the go ahead for the motorola edge+ security update. I don't mind bimonthly or even quarterly security updates but there is no reason why it should be behind a boost moto g stylus 5g. Assuming you have the july security update on your boost stylus. I have it on my metro. I am judging by what I read from complaints on sites being on February security update. It makes zero sense that a boost stylus would get a update before an boost edge+. That can't happen. Get it together boost. If you want to blame motorola, boost needs to light a fire under motorola's *** to put out a security update.

* I really think security updates are overblown in importance, fear mongering and is part of companies planned obsolescence plan but you still want security updates in somewhat reasonable time especially with a flagship phone. I am still very interested Iin this edge+ at this deal price. The late security update isn't deterring me.

If you want to change the 3-button navigation order, here's something I found in xda developers (https://forum.xda-developers.com/...s.4456987/)

1. Download QuickShortcutMaker from the PlayStore or APK.
2. Once installed, open and select the activities tab
3. Next, click the 3 dot menu button at the top right and select "Search method" and "Normal Search"
4. Then search (type) "3-Button"
5. It should return a search result under "settings"
6. Expand settings to reveal Settings.
7. Select 3-button navigation
8. Select "try"
9. This will open up the settings menu to change the order of the 3-Button Navigation.

Edge Plus 2022 is missing a few international 5G bands n1/3/8/28.

It's mostly catering to the US carriers: n2/5/7/12/25/26/29/30/41/48/66/71/77/78.

Edge Plus 2023 has much better global 5G support. The n8 band is still missing but all other bands are present.

It's happened for the past 4 updates. You can confirm with Moto on Twitter that they update all their phones directly. Major updates are pushed with carrier approval but not security patches.
All captured OTA links are of Moto domains (back in the day, updates used to be from carriers websites etc)
"back in the day, updates used to be from carriers websites"

LMAO, you have no idea how updates are working.

From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen. Tap then choose, 'None', 'Launch Assistant' or 'Launch Camera'. Tap then choose 'Gesture navigation' or '3-button navigation'. Tap then choose to turn on or off.

Isn't it possible to change it by phone setting without downloading?

Here we go again. I have had moto phones for a decade now. The OTA updates for my variant used to be from T-Mobile servers. I used to dump the OTA's on XDA and all the captures were on carriers servers. For moto g stylus 5G 2022, OTA captures show they're on moto servers.
We can go back and forth & you can keep speaking like you know it all but I'm not going to respond anymore.

Your wife drove to work on Monday and your neighbor drove to work on Monday too.
You can claim that your wife has an affair with your neighbor.
Look at your claims: "carriers don't control OTA" and "moto has streamlined firmware across carriers", which are as solid as the above claim.

This is only for 5G, right?
My family member should be fine with 4G as well. That should work outside US, right? Any idea?

If I'm planning on keeping my current cricket sim card with the current phone number (not going to insert the boost sim card at all), should I choose to keep my existing phone number or receive a new phone number? I'm worried that if I choose to receive a new phone number, the new sim card will automatically activate and disable my current sim card (or is that not how it works?). Can someone explain it to me?
You can play muscial sims. The phone number follows the sim. So order with a new number. Now the boost sim has its on phone number. You can now pop that sim into just about any unlocked phone and that phone number will work. Like wise your cricket sim will work in any unlocked phone and your personal phone number will follow the sim.
