I have used them both because my friend reviews tech products for a living and I go over and play with them. This is a much stronger processor. It also supports a desktop mode and the a54 does not. This has a glass build wireless charging and a lot more flagship features.

Major benefit to the a54 is that it's going to be updated for a lot longer.a54 we'll get Android 13 and 14 and 15 and this will probably just get Android 14. And it won't get security patches for as long.

Personally I would go with the Motorola but if I was recommending a phone to a casual user like my mom or my sister I might lean with the a54 just cuz it'll be secure for a longer period of time and they probably wouldn't make use of the flagship features like the desktop mode or the stylus.

The Motorola also has stylus support with an external stylus you can buy, an amazing desktop mode with a dock. Definitely a more premium piece of hardware

Yes this been going on for awhile in The Feb thread.

Was thinking of getting one but
Slow Moto Android upgrades, no dual sim, avg cam, large size stopped me.

Was going to get it for $50 with in store port in...but boost stores charge MSRP tax, activation fees, and higher plan... Similar to metro stores...so I didn't go that route.

Just a little review here. I received the phone on Monday and have been using it since. For $200 this phone is a steal. I am updating from a Oneplus 9 that I got last year on a Slickdeal from Best Buy for $150. The biggest issue I had was that it was only 128gb and the OnePlus 7 I had before was 256gb. This being 512gb takes away any space concerns which were a big problem before. The Snapdragon processor is top of the line and for me the Ready Now is a real game changer. I am able the phone on my desktop during work and now I don't need to use the phone itself at all for most things. It will also be great for using on vacation. I can just plug it into any hotel tv and have a desktop like experience or watch whatever I want from the phone. I was able to unlock it right away from Dr. Unlock on eBay who was recommended in the wiki. I am having the tracfone issue mentioned but I will order a new sim to have it transferred before the month of Boost is over. I also use Google Voice as my primary number so the actual service or phone number doesn't matter. No need to port my number when I switch services. I am no expert with cameras and i'm sure the cameras here will meet my simple needs. Overall this is a great deal to get a top of the line flagship phone at a great price.

Your wife drove to work on Monday and your neighbor drove to work on Monday too.
You can claim that your wife has an affair with your neighbor.
Look at your claims: "carriers don't control OTA" and "moto has streamlined firmware across carriers", which are as solid as the above claim.
Damn your good, after he said he wouldn't reply anymore, you pull out the your wife cheated comparison...

Still fighting with boost to get my refund back after PayPal glitched and my card was charged 203 Dollars. They initially told me to make a case in PayPal which I did. Then they made a support ticket for a refund but cancelled it once they seen i had a case open with PayPal. Like wtf
PayPal says the case will be escalated the Aug 16th but damn this has been a major headache trying to get my money back .

For people who bought this. Do they know if it's a dual sim? I couldn't verify this information anywhere.

After I place the order, if we want to return this (for any reason), is it possible?

Is it a dual sim or a single sim?

Single sim out of the box.
The e-sim is disabled on the boost version.
It may be possible to enable the e-sim by cross-flashing but there is no confirmation yet.

On the moto edge+ 2023 boost version, the e-sim can be enabled by cross-flashing.
Not sure if it will work on the moto edge+ 2022 version.

It is single physical sim only. This phone at this cost is a freaking great deal if your carrier works properly with this phone.

Does anyone else experience a bug that shows the symbol for no SIM in the phone after a restart? Only way to make it go away is to re-insert the SIM.

Just want to say that I got this device from this deal, unlocked it thanks to doctor unlock on eBay and it is a really nice device. Other phone is an Samsung s23 and I really can't tell if there's any speed difference. Screen is quite nice and Moto actually has figured out how to do HDR properly on Netflix unlike Samsung whose devices is still display Netflix HDR really dim.

been busy with it today after it arrived, did remove some bloat and has less crap lingering around now from Motorola.

google moto debloat and use ADB + USB debugging "ON"

One thing it cant seem to go away is the HELLO MOTO when powered on.

This is only for 5G, right?
My family member should be fine with 4G as well. That should work outside US, right? Any idea?
4G bands are fully supported. The list from official website is B1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/13/14/17/20/25/26/28/29/30/38/39/40/41/46/48/66/71 (this is the non-UW model).

It arrived today just as ups said.
So far so good. Used the TMobile sim card, entered the code from the eBay seller and the phone was already fully updated.
Only issue is the screen is a bit matte for my taste but will get used to it.

Anyone know a good photo app? The one it comes with is very limited selecting resolutions.

I already checked that and the drop down list is greyed out and won't let me change it. It does show that NR is available or enabled somewhere in there (not using the phone atm) but also shows "RESTRICTED"
Wow The carrier is actually blocking 5G? Since when did that become a thing? Sorry I couldn't help.
