I have used them both because my friend reviews tech products for a living and I go over and play with them. This is a much stronger processor. It also supports a desktop mode and the a54 does not. This has a glass build wireless charging and a lot more flagship features.

Major benefit to the a54 is that it's going to be updated for a lot longer.a54 we'll get Android 13 and 14 and 15 and this will probably just get Android 14. And it won't get security patches for as long.

Personally I would go with the Motorola but if I was recommending a phone to a casual user like my mom or my sister I might lean with the a54 just cuz it'll be secure for a longer period of time and they probably wouldn't make use of the flagship features like the desktop mode or the stylus.

The Motorola also has stylus support with an external stylus you can buy, an amazing desktop mode with a dock. Definitely a more premium piece of hardware

Yes this been going on for awhile in The Feb thread.

Was thinking of getting one but
Slow Moto Android upgrades, no dual sim, avg cam, large size stopped me.

Was going to get it for $50 with in store port in...but boost stores charge MSRP tax, activation fees, and higher plan... Similar to metro stores...so I didn't go that route.

Just a little review here. I received the phone on Monday and have been using it since. For $200 this phone is a steal. I am updating from a Oneplus 9 that I got last year on a Slickdeal from Best Buy for $150. The biggest issue I had was that it was only 128gb and the OnePlus 7 I had before was 256gb. This being 512gb takes away any space concerns which were a big problem before. The Snapdragon processor is top of the line and for me the Ready Now is a real game changer. I am able the phone on my desktop during work and now I don't need to use the phone itself at all for most things. It will also be great for using on vacation. I can just plug it into any hotel tv and have a desktop like experience or watch whatever I want from the phone. I was able to unlock it right away from Dr. Unlock on eBay who was recommended in the wiki. I am having the tracfone issue mentioned but I will order a new sim to have it transferred before the month of Boost is over. I also use Google Voice as my primary number so the actual service or phone number doesn't matter. No need to port my number when I switch services. I am no expert with cameras and i'm sure the cameras here will meet my simple needs. Overall this is a great deal to get a top of the line flagship phone at a great price.

You may need to be more specific. If it's Verizon proper for both of you and not some MVNO that uses Verizon towers then is this Verizon postpaid or prepaid? I don't necessarily know the solution to your problem, but the more info you provide, the more likely it is that someone will be able to assist.
Verizon business account. Not MVNO.
Already contacted support and they are trying to fix it for almost a week now.

Haha, yeah, I did buy a few, but I ended up keeping one for myself and flipping the rest. I thought about keeping a couple for my parents, but people were offering $400-600 over what I paid for them, so couldn't justify keeping more than one.

The trade in deal involved trading in an S21 that you could buy for $250 or less on eBay. BestBuy was flat out offering $800 for these S21s, and if you activated a new line on the big 3 carriers, you got $400 in instant credit on top. So basically $1200 towards a new S22U just for trading in a S21 and opening a new account/lines that you could close the same day. Many people here bought a bunch of S21s from eBay and traded them in. I also traded in my Note 10+ for $600 off + $400 off for a new line, so I got a 128GB S22U for only $100 after trading in my Note 10+..

The best thing about all of this was that all these Samsung phones were factory unlocked models, and not carrier locked models, so the phones were totally yours to keep even if you canceled the TMob/ATT lines. I also got a few S22+s out of the deal, which ended up being even trades with the S21s without the need to open any new lines. Just a crazy deal overall likes of which we may never see again as Samsung made a huge loss last year.

I have heard lot of praises of motorola edge+ 2023 camera and even the highly reputable DXOmark gave it high rating. When it is battling somewhat around the big boys scores like S23, iPhone 14 and the Pixel 7a DXOmark scores, it really showed how Motorola really stepped up the camera game with their flagship phones. I know technically the S23 isn't Samsung "highest flagship" but it is still a flagship phone to me. Motorola's most impressive and highest praised camera on a phone.

Pixel 7 Pro= 147 DXOMARK
Pixel 7= 140
Samsung S23 Ultra= 140
.
Samsung Galaxy S23= 133
Apple iPhone 14= 133
Google Pixel 7a= 133
Motorola Edge+ 2023= 130
OnePlus 11= 127

Pixel 6a= 122 (I am using that and that is really impressive to my eyes).
I always look at DXOMark as well, but I bought a Pixel 7 Pro last year and was not impressed by it's camera compared to my S22U. In fact, the Pixel's selfie camera was outright horrible. No autofocus, and the photos came out overly processed with an HDR like effect. It's well documented online. It was so bad that I ended up selling my Pixel 7 Pro after a week. Even the rear cameras were definitely not better than my S22U. I started taking DXOMark with a grain of salt after that experience.

The only thing I hate about the S22U's camera (and every Samsung camera after the S8 series) is the terrible shutter lag. Unlike the Pixels, this Moto Edge+, iPhones, etc, Samsungs don't take photos instantaneously after pressing the shutter button. There is always a lag, which makes it hard to time shots.

Other than that, the camera on my S22U is incredible.

I fail to see how this is a deal vs the Samsung A54 which has a number of improvements over this Moto. Screen brightness of the A54 goes to 1,000 nits vs 699 on the Moto, A54 has a substantially higher water resistant rating of IP67 vs Moto's IP52 which means not able to survive and immersion), Samsung A54 has 5 years of support while my previous Moto's were 1 or 2. Price on Metro for the A54 is $49.99. So other than a quick unlock and 4x the cost of the Moto, what's the attraction?

Had the phone now for about a week. It's been a great phone for 200 bucks used on T-Mobile with full 5GUC it does not have as many radio bands as my note 20 ultra 5g so when I went into a metal roof home Depot this past weekend. I completely lost signal whereas my old note 20 ultra worked fine. Popped the boost sim in the note 20 ultra and that's working fine too...

The snapdragon in this phone is substantially better. It's better than my note 20 ultra 5g booting up.

many good points.
however to add...

a54 v e+

final price 94 v 205 [not 4x cost...add potential cash back to e+ and its ~ $80 more for e+]
memory 6 v 8
storage 128 v 512
processor exynos 1380? v snapdragon 8th gen

probably forgetting other things

No, but that's of little consequence for the intended user. Other than that, do you see any advantage to the Moto? I guess the fast unlock is driving this.

I think I read somewhere that we can avoid the 1st month payment if we get the phone soon enough. However, I don't remember exactly what the condition to do that is. Could anybody confirm it it's true? If it is, where can I read about it?

You have to buy the month of service in order to get the phone at 150. That is done at the same time paying for the phone so I don't see a work around.

Finally received mine today. Put my Visible sim in and unlocked it with code from desbloquealord on ebay, which I got on the 9th btw. Proceeded to go through the setup screen and transferred old data and files from my old S10 with the cable provided with this new phone. All good to go!

As a note: This phone did not pass the IMEI checker on Visibles site. Nor did my S10. With that said, I activated the Visible sim on the 7th on my "incompatible" S10. And it also works just fine in this "incompatible" Edge+ 2022. Why not use the Boost service? Because $35 Visible+ unlimited everything.

Production date for mine is 6/25/2023 and it was already updated to it's highest A12 patches.

Been using this bad boy on mint for 5 days now and it's been a great experience.

It has great antennas /radios and has the best signal I've had for tmobile service. Everything works and the Sim easplug and play once unlocked.

That said the video capture on this is horrendous. Much worse than my Samsung S9. Photo capture is decent but man the video is TERRIBLE
Hey needed to know if you faced this issue ? If I am making a video call and while I'm talking, if the other person starts talking at the same time the phone kind of muffles my voice and goes back to normal once the other person stops talking. I didn't know and got the feedback from the person at the other end and tested this behavior at home with my partner and it happens every single time the person at the other end talks over me.
