I have used them both because my friend reviews tech products for a living and I go over and play with them. This is a much stronger processor. It also supports a desktop mode and the a54 does not. This has a glass build wireless charging and a lot more flagship features.

Major benefit to the a54 is that it's going to be updated for a lot longer.a54 we'll get Android 13 and 14 and 15 and this will probably just get Android 14. And it won't get security patches for as long.

Personally I would go with the Motorola but if I was recommending a phone to a casual user like my mom or my sister I might lean with the a54 just cuz it'll be secure for a longer period of time and they probably wouldn't make use of the flagship features like the desktop mode or the stylus.

The Motorola also has stylus support with an external stylus you can buy, an amazing desktop mode with a dock. Definitely a more premium piece of hardware

Yes this been going on for awhile in The Feb thread.

Was thinking of getting one but
Slow Moto Android upgrades, no dual sim, avg cam, large size stopped me.

Was going to get it for $50 with in store port in...but boost stores charge MSRP tax, activation fees, and higher plan... Similar to metro stores...so I didn't go that route.

Just a little review here. I received the phone on Monday and have been using it since. For $200 this phone is a steal. I am updating from a Oneplus 9 that I got last year on a Slickdeal from Best Buy for $150. The biggest issue I had was that it was only 128gb and the OnePlus 7 I had before was 256gb. This being 512gb takes away any space concerns which were a big problem before. The Snapdragon processor is top of the line and for me the Ready Now is a real game changer. I am able the phone on my desktop during work and now I don't need to use the phone itself at all for most things. It will also be great for using on vacation. I can just plug it into any hotel tv and have a desktop like experience or watch whatever I want from the phone. I was able to unlock it right away from Dr. Unlock on eBay who was recommended in the wiki. I am having the tracfone issue mentioned but I will order a new sim to have it transferred before the month of Boost is over. I also use Google Voice as my primary number so the actual service or phone number doesn't matter. No need to port my number when I switch services. I am no expert with cameras and i'm sure the cameras here will meet my simple needs. Overall this is a great deal to get a top of the line flagship phone at a great price.

If you enabled hotspot without connecting to home wifi, the hotspot internet has to come from mobile internet, which means the hotspot function is working, at least with Visible.
As a matter of fact, when I turn on my hotspot there's a message that comes up "checking subscription status", then disappears once connected.

5G works fine on AT&T and AT&T prepaid. Others have had issues specifically with CRICKET. It could be an APN issue, or it could be a real issue with Cricket limiting 5g on the device. I don't have Cricket, so I can't say for sure. For AT&T, if you use the "nxtgenphone" apn, you only get 4g - you have use the "enhancedphone" apn for 5G...

I have AT&T prepaid, and have 5G on this device.
Might just be the carrier restriction. I have RedPocket ATT and I only get LTE on this phone. All my other phones I get 5g signal

Any recommendation on slim cases for this phone? Not many choices seem to be available. is it true that it is compatible with moto 30 ultra and x30 as well?

Will WiFi calling work with other carriers on this phone? Motorola makes different models for different carriers, and while usually everything works (Talk/Text/Data), WiFi calling is a hit or miss working on other carriers. Like the Stylus (2021 I think?) WiFi calling would only work on the networks the phone was made for. (i.e. Phone was made for Mint, and WiFi calling only works on t-mobile network, another model made for Cricket, and WiFi calling only worked on AT&T networks, etc)
WiFi Calling doesn't work with Consumer Cellular. There's no option in the settings where it normally would be found. That stinks. My prior Moto phone I bought from ConsCellular and Wifi calling was a feature with it. Hard to believe that these manufacturers/carriers cannot make that a universal feature.

Why does it ask for an email to see if the location qualifies for the offer.

I am providing email but still getting error. "Please enter a valid email" !!

It does work, but that's the problem with these OEM phones. I havent been able to get that Boost Moto Stylus 5G 2022 wifi calling to work with Mint or Cricket. When you do a little search through Google, the options for WiFi calling disappear out of the phone's settings when WiFi calling is not supported by the carrier. Mint and Cricket have WiFi calling, but for whatever reason, it seems to be a common problem with phones with an OEM load from another carrier. So even if these Boost phones are SIM unlocked, they really arent the same as true unlocked phones. There's other phones that have the same problem, even after they're unlocked by the carrier after XX months besides Motorola.

WiFi calling does have to be supported by the carrier, but sometimes the option still isn't showing up. When I switched to Visible, I was pretty bummed that I didn't have the option for WiFi calling. But with a bit of google searching, I got it working with this method on my Galaxy S10:

Install Activity Launcher from the Playstore
Search for "call" (no s)
Select Settings
Select "com.android.settings.Settings#WifFCallingSettingsActivity"
Create and save the shortcut to your home screen
The shortcut should open to Wi-Fi Calling menu where you can toggle it on and off.

It worked for me.

Please check your APN: are you using the enhancedphone APN?

Settings > network & internet > mobile network > access point names > tap the active APN and note what it shows under "APN"

Also, not all at&t sims are compatible with 5g - you can find a list of sim production codes online. Have you successfully gotten at&t 5g on another device with the same sim? Have you confirmed at&t 5g is available at your location?

From howardforums:

To receive 5G on AT&T the sim card SKU must be the following: 6471C, 6531C, 6533C, 6661A, 6818B.

I'm thinking it's just a Cricket restriction.

Completely possible... However...

Based on a quick search, it looks like the 4G cricket APN is ndo, while the 5G APN is endo.

This seems pretty similar to the AT&t 4G APN being nxtgenphone versus the 5G APN being enhancedphone

Have a look at your APN settings and tell us which one your phone is using.

There is an extra 21 dollars back on Capital one Cards at Boost. I received an Email from capital one that I am receiving the 21 dollars within 3 billing cycles! Makes this deal very slick.

It won't stack. You need to click through a link on CapOne shopping. Amex/Chase/Citi Merchant offers do stack with cb offers.

It automatically defaulted to the 5G APN endo. And the SIM is the new "white & green" Cricket SIM so that shouldn't be an issue.

Also, on Cricket's BYOD whitelist, it even explicitly says no 5G for this model:

Edge+ (XT2201-3) (2)

(2) HD Voice (VoLTE), Mobile Hotspot, compatible

And side note, it's odd that VoLTE Provisioned is unchecked in that phone info screenshot. It clearly still supports it, otherwise phone calls wouldn't work at all.
