Dual hose means it not only equalizes the air pressure in the room so that the cooler air stays put but it also exhausts the hot air out. Single hose works but it creates positive pressure in a sealed room so whatever cool air u feel will want to escape at the closest opening.
Terrible explanation but a short google search will get you a better explanation if it interests you

If you can get a window unit, just do that. Or hold out for a dual hose. avoid single hose.

There's the idea of where hot air from the ac goes vs cold air.
Single and you're pushing out hot air into the pipe out the window. Cooled air flows thru the ac and out the top vent after dumping the heat into the hot air exhaust.
Push hot air out of a home, and air from outside will flow into the house to replace that air.
Now, while the local room area is cooler, you're still sucking in air from outside to replace the hot air you've dumped.
..
Dual.
Idea is cold air circulates inside, exchanging heat with outside air before dumping the outside air back outside. These two loops don't cross the indoor / outdoor line so more cooling potential because the house isn't sucking in outdoor air to replace dumped hot air.

Overall, it won't matter for you in that one bedroom during a heat wave because 6000+btu of any air conditioner will make you feel chill quick enough. Not the most efficient way, but none of these portables are "efficient to begin with", so you'll have a marginally higher electrical bill vs a high efficiency inverter, wall mounted ac.
Again, 6000+ btu of anything is going to cool a bedroom just fine to survive a heatwave.
You'll lose much more cool air to simple things like not fully taping up the window pipe mount to prevent any outdoor air from leaking in past the gaps. A few pencil lead sized holes/gaps will murder any attempt at ac cooling.

I had a 10,000 btu portable ac single hose unit on constantly all day and night for one room. Put in a cheap window 5000 btu and it stays on low and cycles on and off, quiet and works so much better.
