We have this dryer (electric) and the heating element went out. It was constantly tripping our breaker even on low. Fortunately, Maytag fixed it under warranty. Not sure if this is common or not...Besides that, it has been great. It dries really fast.

Very tempting. I use to keep eye on the site but it gets way too spammy. I prefer older dryers that just work. But this may be worthy without all the fancy stuff that breaks.

If the door locks on this model I'll laugh however. That's the biggest annoyance on my newer Maytag washer top loader. It takes like 5 min after spin cycle to open the top door lol.

Nice, really helpful post, OP! I don't see an option for installation for the gas dryer. Do they not install gas appliances for the $49?

Also, I signed up for a Maytag acct. How long does it take for the 5% discount email to arrive? I did get an email saying "Account Created Successfully" but no discount code with that.

Are you talking about the FREEINSTALLATION code? They don't seem to offer installation as an option for the gas model, just delivery.

To answer my questions above, I figured out you have to sign up for their email list, at the bottom of the website, to get the code for 5% discount. I thought you had to create an account, but that didn't work.

I tried the 5% on the electric dryer and it doesn't work. Same with the free installation doesn't work. I think you have to be above $1K for free installation.

It is common. The heating element can be fairly easily replaced on these (see youtube). Ours lasts for a couple of years by drying at least 3 loads a week (God bless our kids). The replacement part can be bought on Amazon [amazon.com] for $40 (ymmv)
