Any deals on good smart dimmers/switches without a neutral wire?
This Lutron Caseta kit gives you 3 way switching and dimming, and no neutral required. It needs a hub though (included), but additional switches are pricy. I'm not aware of any other "no neutral" smart dimmer switches, although there may be something that uses Zigbee or Z-Wave protocol.

Will this work for Ceiling fans ?
You should never put a traditional dimmer on a ceiling fan. The ceiling fan circuitry is not designed for this.

A ceiling fan can be on a dimmer switch, but only if the dimmer switch is purpose-built for ceiling fans. Ideally, a ceiling fan controller should regulate the current in a circuit. But since regular dimmer switches control voltage instead, they are a mismatch with ceiling fans.

I just installed these in my kitchen, in conjunction with some new Cree can light retrofit replacements that are super bright so the dimmer is definitely needed. I love these dimmers and they work flawlessly. If you have your lights dimmed at 50%, say, and turn the lights off, the next time you turn them on they will go back to the same brightness. You can also long press when turning on to get full brightness. Note that the double press that you can set to slowly dim the lights off like in their non 3-way dimmers does not work on these—it's not an option to set up in the Kasa app for them. You'll need a voltage detector or multimeter to install since the two switches are different. One needs to go at the line side with power coming in, and one at the load side. Would definitely recommend.

I have this installed for my kitchen, office, and master bedroom.

I never dim my office or kitchen area but went with dimming feature bc the originals were dimmable. I only dim in the bedroom which is useful bc you want low lighting before going to bed.

I kinda agree, even though I have the non 3way kasa dimmers on 5 fans. When you use the dinner to lower the fan speed, it dims the light at the same time which can be annoying. Some of my fans also make a buzzing noise at low fan speeds.
Folks, please do not follow in these footsteps. Buy a fan controller for your ceiling fans and keep these dimmer switches for what they're supposed to be for: your lights. Like db999md said, it would be a current/voltage mismatch. This can damage the fan motor + potentially cause a fire. More expensive to replace whole circuit or the fan itself if you f**k it up than to cheap out on switches. A smart fan controller or 15A relay switch is designed for that use case (speaking for the states, dunno about elsewhere).

Friends don't let friends buy wrong switches!

As an aside, yes have these and the single pole dimmers all over my new house and got more during Prime Day. Great switches! Would prefer a rocker style instead though. Note that the dimming LEDs that show you the brightness level are only on the MAIN 3-way switch, not the satellite switch (the one without a neutral).

Sorry for the ignorance but I always get confused... If I have a light that I can turn on from two different light switches then the three-way will not work ...is that correct

Just so everyone is aware - Kasa switches work well and are inexpensive which is good, but there is one fairly significant cosmetic issue with them in that the depth of the decora switch makes it not stick out far enough on standard wall plates. They include single gang screwless plates which are fine, but they do not make dual gang plates and if you use standard plates the switch does not sit flush with the wallplate. the swtich ends up being embedded about 1 mm in so it does not look as good as it should. I am lucky in that my wife does not notice that type of thing, but if yours does or you are picky about this type of thing this really is a deal-breaker with Kasa switches if you have double gang boxes. Some folks on the internet talk about dremeling down the plastic to fix the issue so that may be possible.

in this photo you can see the Kasa switch on the left and how it is recessed. Without modification that is what these swtiches will look like with all 2 gang plates.

Thanks for feedback!

Are these the single pole dimmers you got? Are these for switches where you CANT control from 2 locations? And don't you need a light bulb than can be dimmed by the switches in the first place?

https://a.co/d/aJA8S8Q

Otherwise you'd need to buy something like this pack of single pole switches that aren't dimmable and will work with non dimmable lights.

https://a.co/d/6qCakl2

Also, can you put a single pole switch where an existing 3 pole switch is location? And get another single pole switch for other side? I'm thinking about this one:

https://a.co/d/5F3ysCg

The 3 pole switches I have that control kitchen dimmable lights are in annoying in that one is always in up/on position and other is always down/off position. Anyway to have them work the same?

Appreciate your help!

As previous poster stated, these will work for the situation you describe. 3 way is better understood as how many terminals are on the switch - 3 way dumb switches have 3 terminals on them - a line(hot) with two travelers on the line side, and a load and 2 travelers on the load side. 3 way switching is where lighting is controlled from 2 locations.

4 way switches have 4 terminals on them and are used where lighting is controlled from 3 or more locations. There is no such thing as 5 way (or more) switching. The "way" refers to the number of terminals on the switch, not the number of locations where lighting is controlled. In 4 way switching situations, there are two 3 way switches, one at the line (hot) side and one at the load side, with one or more 4 way switches between them - there can theoretically be any number of 4 way switches between the 3 way switch locations - if switching is controlled from 5 different locations, it is not a "5 way switching" situation - it's still 4 way switching - the number of locations is not the number of "ways". As far as I know, the 3 way dimmable smart switches in this deal will not work in a 4 way switching situation (lighting controlled from 3 or more locations).

Great call on wall plates. So I have several 3 hole plates in my house. Sounds like to fit the kasa switch in existing plate I need to dremmel the sides of the hole on the plate to get a nice aesthetic look?
