Be that as it may, it is the best price for a 4 TB NVME with DRAM (Samsung DDR4) currently available. Someone may find that information useful. And it has been updated. It now has a Silicon Motion SM2262ENG controller and the 3D flash has been upgraded from Toshiba BiCS3 to TEAMGROUP branded 64-layer 3D NAND.

No. The "x4," pronounced "by 4," means 4 PCIe lanes. The PCIe bus has 16 lanes. NVME slots run on 4 PCIe lanes. This drive is PCIe gen 3. You can ignore the "x4" label when looking for drives, since all modern NVME drives are run on 4 lanes. It is compatible with PCIe 4 NVME slots, though, as all PCIe hardware is backwards compatible. I'll agree with the other comments, though. This is far from a good price these days. This drive has been below $160 multiple times in the last few weeks, and prices will continue to drop. This is just them raising the price in between the new regular price of $160, and SSD prices are still falling rapidly. This price is inflated for this drive in the current market.

The price for this drive went up from $168 since the beginning of July 2023. It goes down periodically for less than a day, and then back to whatever. That's Newegg.

I added it to my cart and checked back at least once a day, until I finally bought it on July 19th for $156.99. Now it's back to $185.99. It's very possible the price will be reduced once again in a week or so.
