I've never bought something with this option. Any issues with cancelling future deliveries?
Can it be cancelled immediately?

1. Supposedly, if the price should go down before the order is fulfilled (depends on the shipping date you choose), you'll be credited for the cheaper price. Based on my experience, this usually - BUT NOT ALWAYS - holds true. You may want to double-check the current price when it comes time for your order to be fulfilled.
2. On most S&S products, Amazon will offer a 5% discount for the first four monthly S&S items. 5 or more orders in a month usually nets you a 15% discount on all five orders. (That's the number of S&S orders, not product quantities ordered. So, rather than making one S&S order of quantity 2, you might want to place two separate S&S orders of quantity 1.) However, some products are discounted 0% for the first four and 5% for the fifth order. Still other products are discounted 5% for the first four and 10% for the fifth. You just need to pay attention to the fine print!
3. If memory serves me right, prior to this year, Amazon always defaulted your S&S orders to whatever monthly cycle you chose. However, recently Amazon has changed. At the beginning of your monthly cycle, any S&S order that you place will default to immediate shipment. THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM IF YOU"RE TRYING TO BRING YOUR S&S LIST UP TO FIVE. If it is shipped immediately, it won't count toward your five. Consequently, you need to manually choose a First Delivery Date of whatever your monthly cycle date happens to be. Somewhere around the middle of your monthly cycle, you don't need to take this extra step. Amazon will default to your monthly cycle date. Bottom line: Pay attention to the First Delivery Date, it may not be what you want nor expect.
4. Frequently (I don't know why!), Amazon will offer the option for S&S discount on a product for a limited time, sometimes just a few hours, before eliminating that option and offering just the immediate purchase option. That is why you'll sometimes run across a SD deal for something like "20% off with S&S subscription", only to find that there is no such option at the time that you click on the offer.
5. Canceling an order is supposedly "no hassle". I have literally canceled HUNDREDS of orders in the past few years. Indeed, I've canceled every single S&S order after it has been delivered. No questions asked. There are two tracking systems for your S&S orders: your regular Orders page and your S&S subscriptions page. When you place a S&S order, both pages are automatically updated. However, whenever I've canceled a S&S order from the Orders page, it hasn't immediately canceled the order shown on the S&S page. The reverse is also true, canceling an item on the Orders page does not immediately cause a cancelation on the S&S page. I'm not sure whether it simply takes time for the orders to reset, but I don't take any chances ... I cancel both sets of orders to make sure that they are canceled.
6. Related to item 5. Your S&S "subscription" is treated differently from a regular order. I once had a problem with my S&S order (I don't recall exactly what) and had to go through reordering the item. The revised S&S item appeared on my subscriptions list, but with no price. When I contacted Amazon Customer Service, the agent patiently explained that there was NO WAY that she could check the price since the S&S order had not yet been fulfilled and there was NO WAY that she could check the price at the time I reordered the item because the original order had been canceled and no new order had been made because they had simply updated the S&S order. What? It took me a long while to figure out that my original order was tied with my original S&S subscription, but once I changed the subscription, THERE WAS NO ORDER tied to the revised subscription. And so it is with any refilling of your S&S items... there is no way for you to check prices on any refilled order until it is time to fulfill said order (Amazon will send you a notice at that time, a few days before shipment). And getting back to item 5, earlier, that is why whenever I cancel items from my Orders page, I also cancel the same items from my S&S subscriptions. It's because they are two separate systems.
7. I wait at least until the items have been shipped before canceling any orders/subscriptions. Most of the time, I cancel them upon delivery. (Delivery is a convenient time to simultaneously record the items as having been received and then immediately cancel said items.)
Except for these few quirks, the Amazon Subscribe and Save option has worked well and has saved me a lot of money.
