We had to get ours replaced 3 weeks after delivery - brand new it leaked all over the floor and the freezer would cycle up to 40 degrees and then refreeze. Repair guy told me that's normal - which is BS. Replacement fridge works fine. Make sure you check that it's keeping your food frozen like it should - constantly melting and refreezing ice cream sucks!
Yeah, appliance reliability is playing the lottery and every brand is going to have problems. For everytime you hear someone talking about how they bought Brand X 15 years ago and their fridge is still running strong, you'll have someone say how theirs broke down within 2 years and how they're gonna buy said brand again.

I'd only add that LG/Samsung definitely have the most refrigerators issues given there compressor design (and I bought an LG not knowing about these issues at the time LOL), but every brand has their issues.

all fridges kinda suck. We've still had the most luck with whirlpool but we've also had some dudes.

We have a similar model now. Hate it. The water comes out room temperature. Ice randomly shoots out of the dispenser. We've had the ice maker replaced a couple of times. I've tried calling the company to get some service info to see if I could fix the dispenser but nobody will speak with me. They just read a canned answer that says they will send out a technician for a $150 diagnostic call. I am not buying another Whirlpool.

Same. Are we still talking about fridges?

I have this fridge, got it last year. It's been working fine, keeps everything cold/frozen, no leaks, water and ice dispenser work properly. The only problem I have is sometimes there's a faint noise of cars racing. I thought people were really racing down the street. I kept hearing it everyday and found out it's the fridge making that noise.

Bought the older model of this same fridge, I believe. From Costco. It is now about 10 years old. The main issue since day one is exactly what someone else on SD complained about and I should have listened. The water dispenser is incredibly frustrating and a legitimate reason to not get the entire fridge. When you move the glass away from the dispenser, water continues to pour out for a split second longer and doesn't come to a complete stop but slowly (fraction of a second). This causes the stream to spill down the side of glass + freezer door every time it is used. Trust me, it has nothing to do with home water pressure, keeping container at proper angles etc, it is a huge design flaw.

I've had this refrigerator for 2 years now & love it & paid way more. Always like that this has separate ice & water controls whereas some whirlpool fridges use same control / paddle for ice/water & you have to tap screen to choose ice or water. My only complaint is when this was designed it baffles me how they designed the feet with no cover. The exposed feet always seemed odd to me.

I have this fridge for 2 years now. 6 months ago, the gasket that goes around the freezer does not seal 100% anymore around the top right corner. Added some door gasket with limited success.. still looking for a better solution

Just an FYI, there is a design flaw with this fridge that will cause the ice maker to fail. The wiring harness is threaded in the absolute worst spot (right in front of the bottom hinge of the freezer door). The stress from opening and closing the door will cause the wires to cut after a few years. Happened to me and to a friend of mine who has the same fridge. Why they didn't thread the harness behind the hinge instead of in front of it is a head scratcher.
