He also wants to sell you ✨️ tonewood ✨️ and tries to convince you that it dramatically affects the tone of an electric guitar in a way that cannot be verified or proven with science because ...violins.

So, I'm not sure Paul Reed Smith, the expensive electric guitar salesman who believes in magic, is someone that you should consider to be a trustworthy authority on the topic.
That config only works on a white '70s strat.
All I want is this in a lefty. Why can't I have it?

Great deal for those who need the Fender logo.

Harley Benton just released the ST-Modern Plus guitars with incredible specs (strat/superstrat style). Not sure if they'll be releasing a tele-style series in the near future. Worth waiting if you are not in the market for a tele right now.
HB guitars worth it? Been reading about them and reviews are very polarizing - some love, some hate, no middle ground.

I've never tried one but they do have a variety of spec levels and prices, so people may have been reacting differently to different ones?

They have become a game changer since they started to equip budget guitars with stainless steel frets (and some models even with a roasted maple neck), back in around 2021. It's easy to swap parts say pickups but not frets and necks so it's important to those who love SS frets but hate to spend hundreds on refretting. It seems they are now targeting the higher level market with more high-end models, ranging from $300+ to ~$400. Just check out the specs, the new ST-Modern Plus could have been priced at $1000+ easily with a name brand.

I bought my first HB guitar in late 2019, when that model didn't have SS frets. Now I have almost 10 HB guitars, and most of them are equipped with SS frets. I sold the first HB and re-purchased the same model with the SS frets.

ESP LTD had a similar story by upgrading their EC-1000 line with SS frets in mid 2021. Many sold their old EC-1000s and bought the new ones.

But for Fender and Gibson, especially PRS, I don't think they have a plan to ship guitars with stock SS frets. So if you are into any of those, it's still worth buying now.

The problem with HB / Thomann is that you have to pay an arm and a leg to ship them to the US. Every guitar I'm interested in becomes a lot less interesting once I see the total with shipping at checkout.

It used to be only 30 EUR shipped to the US (and it worked for 1-3 guitars) with USPS, so like $10+ for each. Since COVID they only offer UPS and the shipping cost hiked. But it's still manageable for 2+ guitars in one order (~$80, so $40 shipping each). Usually there's no problem to clear the customs without paying any duties. When they ship to Europe it's free shipping but they will be charging VAT, and it's vice versa for US orders. They also have a US store on Reverb offering free shipping if you are more comfortable buying there, but just calculate the price you'll find it still makes more sense buying from Germany.

Since last year they are offering discounts (HB 25th anniversary 25% off last year and Thomann 70th anniversary with similar discount this year), which can offset the shipping cost a lot. I bought many from them during those sales.

You know it would be wrong to buy two guitars at a time because the correct number of guitars to have is the number you have + 1.

If you buy 2 guitars at the same time, the equation remains unchanged. The number of guitars you need remains the number of guitars you have + 1.

Haha

I say it every time on these, the color looks so much better in person. This LPB looks awesome! And the Satin on the necks really feels great.

Unfortunately I prefer a belly cut on a guitar. I had this guitar and even though it was nice I just couldn't get comfortable with it. I purchased a Nashville telecaster instead. Great deal though and just personal opinion.

I got one of these exact models back in 2019 for $479. Great guitar. I like it more than my American Strat. Adjusting for inflation, I paid $587, so this is a really nice deal.
